I'd agree, great setlists, the only thing missing for me would be immortality and present tense. Looks like they would have been great shows! Sydney set might just get the nod though.

The perth show was outdoors if im not mistaken? Very rare for a Pearl Jam show in oz to be outdoors. the first 95 tour had a few but rare since then!?

  • Sydney 3 was awesome, the crowd was loud and singing and Ed was really into it trying to "win them back" after the poor showing by the Sydney 2 crowd.

Perth was outside which was nice but there was a weird echo from the sound system at the back of the floor. Perth is good in my books though because I got one of the footies kicked out at the end.

All in All though Sydney 3 was a way, way better show.

Sydney 1 was awesome as well

Set 1: Release, Rearviewmirror, Severed Hand, Corduroy, World Wide Suicide, Animal, Marker In The Sand, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Given To Fly, I Got Id, Daughter/(W.M.A.), Big Wave, Grievance, Wasted Reprise, Better Man, Do The Evolution

Encore 1: Man Of The Hour, Nothingman, Gone, Black, Alive

Encore 2: Go, Why Go, Throw Your Hatred Down, Rockin' In The Free World

Nothingman being played while they were sitting on stools was mindblowing. One of my favourite versions of the song

yeah this is show i made it to on the '06 tour & it was fantastic, great bootleg. not my ideal setlist but the mini-acoustic set in the middle was beautiful, throw your hatred down was a surprise too :) great show!

  • Syd 3 was one of the best shows I have ever seen. The crowd was totally into it and the band were spot on. The whole vibe was awesome. Matt waved to me!:)

i know soundcheck had dirty frank in entirety. pretty sure undone aswell and maybe inhiding or mfc.. memory is a little hazy now from over 2 yrs ago?

perth was long.. and had i got you.. a mother tag on daughter and a great version of black.. but yeh, it had nothing on adelaide 1/2, newy and syd1.

i still reckon sydney 1 is the most underated show on tour. never gets a mention.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

For my money, I'd wager Brisbane II and Melbourne III are the most under-rated shows of the '06 Oz tour - I rarely see either get a mention:

    2006-11-11: Brisbane, Australia

Main Set: Severed Hand, Corduroy, Given To Fly, Save You, World Wide Suicide, Dissident, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Gone, Wishlist, Even Flow, MFC, You Are, Not For You, Better Man, Wasted Reprise, Life Wasted, Do The Evolution

Encore 1: Picture In A Frame, Daughter/W.M.A., Crazy Mary, Alive

Encore 2: Why Go, Blood, Comatose, Porch, Kick Out The Jams, Yellow Ledbetter

    2006-11-16: Melbourne, Australia

Main Set: Long Road, Corduroy, Hail Hail, Do The Evolution, World Wide Suicide, Dissident, Given To Fly, Love Boat Captain, Unemployable, Even Flow, Sad, Present Tense, Save You, Jeremy, Why Go, Comatose, Rearviewmirror

Encore 1: Man Of The Hour, Off He Goes, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Black, State Of Love And Trust, Kick Out The Jams

Encore 2: Wasted Reprise, Life Wasted, Whipping, Alive, Rockin' In The Free World, Yellow Ledbetter

(For what it's worth, I went to both Adelaide shows and Adelaide I was clearly the better show to me)

I was at the Sydney 3 show! I have the boot for Sydney 3 and I have the boot for Newcastle. IMO Sydney 3 is better as a boot! But i'm sure had I been at Newcastle, it would have been a whole other experience!

so you didnt go to melb3 or bris2?

brisbane 2 was average. i was 3rd row centre and was sick as a dog.. which may have something to do with it. even still brisbane 1 had a massively pumped friday night crowd. it was much better than brisbane 2.

melbourne 3 was a good show... better than brisbane 2. i think melbourne 2 was the best of the melbourne trilogy.

    Melb2 set:
Go, Last Exit, Brain of J, World Wide Suicide, Given To Fly, Severed Hand, Low Light, Small Town, Gone, Do The Evolution, Even Flow, Lukin, Not For You/(Modern Girl), Life Wasted, Better Man, Glorified G, Porch
first encore: Thumbing My Way, Last Kiss, Crazy Mary, Alive
second encore: Big Wave, Blood, Leash, Baba O'Riley, Indifference

melbourne 1 was the most disappointing show of the tour. so much expectation for the biggest 10c contingent on the tour. yes the show had length, but as we know, length isnt everything.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

i walked out of brisbane 1 thinking that was the best PJ show i'd seen.

then comes brisbane 2 to just blow brisbane 1 out of the fucking water.

Stupid threefish10 for saying he "can't be bothered" even though flights were $49 each way and accomodation could've easily been sorted out.
I still laugh even now when I read your post just before the Newie show started that says, "not going to Newcastle could be one of my biggest regrets" :D

so you didnt go to melb3 or bris2?

No, but sometimes a show is better than it appeared in person. The boots of those shows are incredible to me, I think sometimes the live experience is too misleading (too many factors can impact on your enjoyment of the show that have little to do with the actual music being played on stage.).

    Ahhh memories...

So hard to choose - once you start showing all the setlists, the choices jump back and forth.

Sydney 3 was awesome! Perth was awesome as well, but so many shows on that tour were great for their own reasons.

Brisbane 1 was sensational, Faithful being a highlight...

Im gonna have to revisit all the boots - Sydney 1 to start with.

    SO MANY MEMORIES!!!!!

Last night I dreamt that I came on this websight and saw Aussie dates posted, it was only 2 shows and the Buy button was there. I was pissed because I didn't have time to plan for the trip but decided to Buy 1st, plan latter, and hope they added more shows, since I didn't feel it would be worth it to travel from US to Aus for only 2 (in my dream that is...)
So maybe this dream is fore shadowing something.... lets hope.

    Brisbane 1
    Sydney 1
    Perth
    Melbourne 2
    Melbourne 3
    Melbourne 1
    Brisbane 2
    Sydney 2

Thats the order of my favourite shows from the tour. Sydney 2 had a good set.. and the only preset on tour with Hide Your Love Away, but the crowd atmosphere sucked. I'll wont forget the 60yo man in a tweed blazer with glasses around his neck behind me... in 6th row Mike's side. Families with kids strolling into 2nd row... Something got fucked up with corporate and free tickets it would seem. While many 10 clubbers could only manage back of the floor and nose bleeds.

I cant comment on Sydney 3 as it's the only show I missed. I traded it in for a chance to be in the ellipse at U2 at the TD instead. I still stand by my choice despite missing a good crowd and smile!
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.
