Pearl Jam @ New Meadowlands Stadium
I have heard rumors through the grapevine, that source to the marketing department at the Meadowlands Complex that Pearl Jam will play the new Meadowlands Stadium. I don't have details on specific dates yet, but I assume it would be after the scheduled MSG shows.
Anyone out there privy to this or have more info?
Thoughts on a potential big stadium show?

That's a horrible name. Rex Ryan stadium would be much better
2008: MSG I, MSG II, Newark(EV)
2009: Albany 1-2(EV), Philly 3
2010: Boston, MSG I
2013: Buffalo, Brooklyn II, Hartford
2016: MSG 1, MSG II, Fenway 1
However, stadium shows are not that fun, and I think Pearl Jam always sounds better in arenas than outdoor venues, and especially gigantic stadiums.

Ah... THIS WILL HELP US KNOW!
Stadium shows take ABOUT A WEEK for building the stage, rigging, tear-down, etc. That's for a relatively regular large stage like used for DMB or Metallica. (I don't know about crazy stages like U2 or anything, but that would probably take longer)
Arena shows on the other hand take less than 24 hours for everything up and down (including the show).
I know this first hand.
If there's a game on 10/23, that means there really can't be a stadium concert on 10/22

Back in September, U2 was scheduled to play at the old Giants Stadium on Friday 9/25. They moved that show to Wed 9/23 because the Jets game played on Sunday 9/27 was moved from 4pm to 1pm kick-off so that the game could be finished before the sun-down start of Yom Kippur and there was concern that they could not get the U2 stage out and the field back in shape in time.
Yeah, four days is enough to break down the staging that's needed for a stadium. Two days is way too tight.
...and at the old Giants Stadium, the grass is on trays. So they can be taken out palette after palette. I think they also have grass covers that a seated-floor can be placed on, which puts only some pressure on the grass if they decided not to move it. But it's been years since I worked a show there... and now it's a new stadium.

a little tidbit about the U2 stage setup last year...
that U2 setup is out of this world ..it took two days to set up and two days to take down ...cost over a $1,000,000 .. THEY HAD TWO SET UPS!!!! as they where playing one concert they where setting up another ..and each show setup came on 40+ trailers ........
SCHEDULING CHANGE FOR GIANTS STADIUM PERFORMANCE27 August 2009
The U2 concert previously scheduled for FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th, 2009 at Giants Stadium in New Jersey has been moved to WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD, 2009. The performance on Thursday, September 24th will proceed as scheduled.
The change was necessitated by the rescheduling of the New York Jets football game on Sunday September 27, 2009 from 4:15pm to 1pm out of respect for the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, which starts that evening. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish year.
The spectacular staging installation for the U2 360° tour requires up to 2 days to disassemble. The original 4:15 PM game time scheduled by the NY Jets provided enough time for the band to load out the set. The change to 1 PM was logistically impossible for U2. In order to accommodate the New York Jets, the NFL and the state of New Jersey, which owns the stadium, and out of respect for U2 and Jets' fans of Jewish faith, U2 agreed to move their show rather than pursue other options.
BUT I WILL BE THERE IF THEY PLAY IT
I heard there were 3 setups (but not thru my contacts, just on NPR or something) and that during their tour, at any given point one stage is being setup, one stage is being torn-down, and one stage is travelling/
2 days up and 2 days sounds pretty good. I think the last Stadium show I worked in 1998 at Giants was about 5 or 6 days, but I'd bet one or two of those days were setting up trailers and other non-stage issues.

I disagree. I think October 22 is when the 2009 fan club single will hit our mailboxes.
One thing is that if PJ played stadiums, I think tickets would be a lot easier to get. The U2 presales were a breeze this time, most of us got GA on the field, makes for one big party - tailgating, the show, the post show, etc. good times......
PJ only opens up for bands....by choice
And when they play stadiums.
Anybody that thinks PJ can headline a stadium show(these days) needs checked by a doctor.
