It's Official: May 18 is Boston 2 or nothing

See this story from another post: PJ planting trees to offset carbon emissions:

There is NO WAY they'd pack up and drive all their crap to another city...if for no other reason (and there are many logical reasons why they wouldn't) than it would totally go against the spirit of this news and what the band has been preaching for a while: environmental awareness.

They know they can sell out Boston 2 so why go somewhere else? Once the Garden's schedule is set for May (mid April ish), they make their announcement. If it's not Boston, they aren't going to do a one-night show somewhere.

How is that "official"? So they will have two off nights in a row while they are between Boston and New York? They would take an extra day off when they are already on the east coast touring, thus, limiting the amount of times their die-hard fans can see them? I don't buy it.

There will be a show there, I doubt it will be in Albany, but it could be as that would be at least closer to the next shows in NYC. i'm guessing it will still be in New England, if not in Boston then Worcester or Providence.

what are you tlaking about? The century is barely ten years old, how can you claim either the pats or the sox are the team of the century....there is still 90 years to go. Also the Yankees have just as many titles in this centurt and more world series appearances. They also only missed the payoffs once, while the soxs missed a few times. That makes them the team of the decade.

and dont even tell me you were talking about the 20th century

Relax, I'm just kidding around about the Boston vs NYC thing! Yes I'm a Boston fan, and yes I can't stand the NY teams, but that is only normal upbringing in the Northeast. For the record though, I was more looking at the century so far... it makes it sound better than the decade, because technically at least the patriots are the team of the 21st Century THUS FAR. The Yankees have an argument over the baseball reign I guess, but I think 2004 trumps anything they have done so far in my opinion (I mean it was 86 freaking years!).

Lets go back to what this post was truly intended for and that was where the TBD show will be and I say that absolutely it will be either in Boston or at least closer to Boston that NYC. They have crazy fans in Boston and just because 90 something dollar tickets behind the stage are available doesn't mean they won't have 18k at a 2nd show.

I guess this just means there's more of a demand for pearl jam tickets in New York than Boston.

On the baseball front since 2000:

Yankees: 4 pennants, 2 World Series, 8 division titles
Red Sox: 2 pennants, 2 World Series, 1 division title

    ...and two words: helmet catch.

there is also MILLIONS of more people, I'm not a math major but I would guess it's easier to sell out some shows in NYC.

Oh and that, means the red sox win the world series 100% of the time and the last sox- yanks playoff game I remember was a close one in 2004. ;).

Ok, I'm just messing around now! I hate that NY fans have an inferiority complex now... it's very unbecoming.

Ok I couldn't help the last one... now I'm done.

that would be correct. chops busting.

It's also a problem that people from all over the country want to go to the NYC show due to the cache of Madison Square Garden and the band's history there.

Granted, they have a great history in Boston too, but MSG to close the tour does sound pretty crazy.

EDIT: and we would have taken Boston down in the playoffs last year, but you forgot how to beat the Angels. ;-)

how many posts did it take to go WAY off topic? 5? 6?
boston vs ny is a tired old argument. just let it go. root for your team. root a little harder when your rivals are in town, but above all, please show some respect. be glad you're not a baseball fan from kansas city or pittsburg - those guys got no shot at all.

i'm all for an 18th date in worcester. where would they play? is the centrum still around?

Not sure if its still called that, but it's still there I'm all for worcester as well.

Kansas City and Pittsburgh still have baseball teams? Do they wear uniforms and everything? What's the fun in watching sports with out a few playful jabs at your rivals? That would be a boring way to enjoy sports.
