Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
Sometimes you gotta leave perfection alone. Ed can't touch Johnny on that one......hell, Cash even outdid Trent on that song. That video still gives me chills.
No offense but I think you're insane. Thats Trent's song, and will always be Trent's song. Cash is great, a total legend, but Trent will always be the best at this song. One of the best of all time
Yeah...it's gotta little YLB vibe to it. Hey...at least they jammed together the last time they were in Chicago together!
you are only the 2nd genius to realize the similarity in that!!!
When they jammed together that time, i was sitting at the Congress Hotel bar chillin out with my dawgs wondering WHAT to do on a monday night in chicago while it rained. ohhhhhhh BOY was i bothered that i was in town and did not know about that "show" :mad:
~~~~~~ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD TIME~~~~~~
Oh no doubt! It's my favorite Kid song probably because of that.
I wonder what kinda reaction you woulda had if you were just sitting in that bar and these two just happen to sit down and started a drunkin' jam session 10 feet in front of you.
"Had my eyes peeled both wide open, and I got a glimpse...of my innocense, got back my inner sence, baby got it...still got it"
Ha ha! That's awesome! Perhaps another time.
The thing I like about Kid Rock is that he's evolved over time (like any good band) and didn't rest on his laurels. He could've just played it safe and continued with the rap/rock thing...but he ventured out and did the country/southern rock stuff and such.
He also has become quite the versitile musician...instrument wise.
Just too funny. I was a die-hard nin fan in '94, so I had to go to ninwiki to figure out when I first saw that performed (Baltimore 1994/12/06). I can't stand to hear anyone cover this song, even Johnny Cash. It never would have dawned on me that Ed would cover Hurt, but now that it's done I'm curious to hear it. I might even like it. Maybe. I just don't want to hear Trent return the favor and cover anything of Ed's. Ever.
I don't ever remember Trent outright dissing Pearl Jam. Referencing himself in contrast to Pearl Jam, yeah, but then he mouths off like that on everyone. As for the timing of performing the song and where, isn't it probably a Lollapalooza thing? Okay, so the hate Pearl Jam. Trent Reznor has a very sardonic sense of humor. It's a joke - context in 1994.
L: Selling lots of records isn't such a bad thing...
T: The problem is, if I would have made a record and set down and thought O.K. A lot of people liked `Head Like A Hole' yeah, maybe I'll write a song that sounds just like it. Okay, grunge is in maybe I'll grow a goatee. Yeah, that might be cool. But I need a big techno edge, `cause that's really popular right now so I'll have Moby remix it. and then I sold a shitload of records, I'd feel on thin ice. I'd never do that in the first place, but if I did, I'd feel uneasy because I basically sold out.
L: But don't you have a responsibility to yourself as a musician, let alone to your fans?
T: Absolutely I do. I'm saying if I did that I'd feel shitty about selling a lot of records. But I've made the records I've wanted to make. And if a lot of people want to buy them, then who am I to say they're not cool enough to buy my records. You're a nerd. You're from Pennsylvania, you can't buy this. I grew up there! I was one of those guys who wasn't cool enough. It's music. If you don't like it, the Pearl Jam record is right there on the shelf. Buy it! It's for people like you.
L: What do you listen to?
T: Pearl Jam.
L: Alright.
T: I fucking hate Pearl Jam.
L: O.K.
T: Everytime someone asks me that question I freeze up. I listen to a lot of old stuff. Old David Bowie, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop. Stuff I didn't listen to that much when I was growing up.
On a semi-related note, I was listening to "Love Will Tear Us Apart" during one of my runs this week, and I wondered how it would sound if Ed/PJ covered it. Then I wondered if maybe it would be wrong for anyone to cover it.
Just watched Control yesterday :( Listening to JD off and on today.
It said "Life is nothing but a dream."
I've spent so many years in question
To find I'd known this all along.
