I love this thread as it generally forces me into a re-shuffle of the boots on my walkman. Recently added Philly 3 & 4, Grand Rapids 06 and MSG2 98. :D

sweet! yeah the idea with the thread is just to get people to listen to shows they might have otherwise overlooked. There's a lot of shows out there and so much goodness. Might have to put on MSG '98. It's been a few years since ove heard that Alive!

1994: Of course that Atlanta show(which i recorded off the radio) is a killer. I really dug the Orpheum show from Boston. LOVE to have the SBD from that show. Not sure, but i don't think i have the St. Petersburg show.

1995: Man, that OSAKA, JAPAN show was TERIFFIC!! They tore that place up. I listen to that show on my way up to the train station, for the MSG shows. A friend of mine was going with me, and said i HAVE to burn him a copy of that show. Also love the way that one guy was yelling PEARRRRRLLLLL JAAAMMMMM!! I don't know if he was the taper or not, but he only did that between songs. Also, its a GREAT AUD recording. Go figure since it was in Japan?>

Glad i listen to the Melbourne show, because for some reason i had that in MP3! UGH!! I just DL a FLAC version, so i'll give that a listen when i can.

Thats what i'm up to. I haven't had a chance to listen to any others, as i've been at 5 PJ shows the last couple of weeks. I'll try to listen to the others in the next few weeks.

In my top 3, maybe best ever for me, IMHO.

I have seen some pretty good shows in my time, but have to agree with this... The Borgata was one of my favorite shows of all time. The set was solid, not legendary. The crowd was small, but on fire, like the band.

No one ever talks about this show, and I feel it is extremely underrated... take a listen. Porch through Grievance was a workout... and you have to picture the 10club at a very nice casino ballroom... it was great in a weird way! The red sox/yankees nonsense is a bit annoying, but to me... the show symobolized the cleansing of the Riot Act debacle, and brought me back as a fan. Avocado came out a bit later, and the rest is history...

Here!! Here!! Well said, 10 C was doing a lottery for this and I won and the wife & I (from Chicago) made a total PJ vacation and then spent 5 days in NY. Met some great fans that night and how about that poster for the show? PS- Won $500 playing blackjack after the show.

Another great re-discovery today was Columbus, Ohio 2000. The version of Nothing As It Seems is as good as you can get and it's a great show if you like to listen to Mike in general. Last Kiss kills the second encore a bit as it's only that and Yellow Ledbetter but the main set is superb and there are great versions Present Tense, Last Exit, Once, Leatherman and Nothingman in the first encore that are close to perfect. :D

Turns out i do have that St. Pete '94 show. WOW! Open with RVM? and then follow that with Whipping, Go and then Animal? Just WOW! They were pretty much like the whole show: on FIRE! I haven't had the chance to listen to alot of the '94 boots, but you're probably right about that being THE BEST.

Like i said earlier, i'm glad you started this, because i've been so busy collecting that i haven't really had time to sit down and listen to them as much as i would like. MAYBE when i FINALLY get done collecting(working on 1995 & 2010 right now), i'll be able to give you, and everyone else, the one's i like.

Oh yea, that Version of Porch on the St. Pete '94 show was AWESOME. LOVE that LONG ASS version!!

The Porch is absolutely filthy. Love the Ed speech at the beginning too.

The rest of 1995(I gave you my opinion on Osaka. Which i think was the best by far). Thought Melbourne was just OK. The June 30, 1995(Morrison, Co.), was not very good. In fact, its the worse one that you gave, that i don't like. A different set list, but no that good. The first 6 songs were slow songs? Long Rd. is always good and i dug the slow version of Jeremy, but i was wondering why they played so many slow songs in a row. I figured it out, when they did start with the fast songs: Eddie sounded like shit on most of them. Some of the songs, it sounded like Eddie just got done smoking a couple of packs of cigarettes before he sang those songs. Maybe thats why they started with the slow songs? I know i've read here on the boards about this show, but it didn't do anything for me. I guess it was a show you needed to be at, because it didn't come across well on the boot.

    1996 is next.

they were all sick before the show started so they actually started the show seated until last exit. i really love the footsteps and falling down. it is sloppy, but most of '95 is imo and ed's voice was very off and on most of the time. Realyl surpised you didnt dig melbourne. I know the setlist isnt interesting but that show is powerful. Grohl destroys RITFW.

1996: I liked the Hartford show. Juts a real good SOLID show. Randall's Island? WOW! Now, that boot almost makes you feel like you were ther. Hell, i wish i was ther> I can just picture the crowd going nuts there.

I don't have the Nov. 7,1996 Paris, France show.

1998: Minneapolis show is another good one. the crowd was GREAT!! I love how the crowd went CRAZY, after they fucked-up the start of All Those Yesterdays a few times. And it lasted at least a couple of minutes. I guess the North East Crowds aren't always the rowdiest?> Then they followed that with a teriffic version of Black. I dug Mike's EF solo. Hell, i liked this show so much, that i even liked WISHLIST, and i'm not a real big fan of that song. Also like that they ended with PORCH. I wish they would start ending some of their shows TODAY, with Porch.

MSG 2, Sept. 11. I enjoyed this show, even with some of the warts(BREATH). We've alll heard Daughter a MILLION times, but this might be the best version i've heard. They got a little SPACEY with that song near the end, and thats what i liked about it. Indifference with Ben Harper was good. Was that the first time they performed that with BH?

I don't have the Aug. 25 Pittsburg, Pa. show.

Beleive it or not, i'm PEARL JAMMED out, for the time being> So, it will be a little while before i get to the 2000's. I'm ONLY gonna listen to the 5 shows i saw from the 2010 tour, and give it a rest for a little while.

that's some good work there. that's more pj than ive probably listened to in 5 years. well done. i might have to throw some of these on again and see if they still hold up. hell i havent even relistened to the '08 shows i was at yet. i am looking forward to relistening to bosotn form this past tour though.

Well, i do ALOT of driving, so i have time to listen to these boots. Like i said before, i've been so busy collecting, that i haven't really played any. Thanks to your thread, this gave me a reason to listen to some of the boots.

Were you at this past Boston(2010) show? I'm really looking forward to listening to that show too. Set list wise, i think its the best of the US tour. I played the Bristow, Va. Show today, and it was what i thought it was, after i saw the show: just OK. I think the boot quality is pretty good though.

Another gem from this weeks listening was San Sebastian 2000. There are a few flubs throughout the show as it was right at the start of the tour but they don't take anything away from the quality. Great setlist, great sound and some really good versions. The worst version of Alive you'll ever hear is still worth listening to as first Ed forgets a few lyrics then the band kind of falls apart and they somehow pull it back for the finish. Ed's attempt at his wolverine howl on Breakerfall's intro is really funny too but this is a really great show with the band in a very good mood.

I think the boot quality is pretty good though.

yeah i was at the boston show. i thought it was a really good show. at the time i thought it was a top 5 show ive attended, but ill have to hear the tapes to confirm. i just really liked the no code and yield songs in the first set as well as the overall flow. i really enjoyed hartford just because they played so many new songs that i hadnt heard before. at this point ive heard most the songs off of the main albums so i just like hearing the new material. even without relistening i pretty sure this was a much better tour than 2008.

Ed's attempt at his wolverine howl on Breakerfall's intro is really funny too but this is a really great show with the band in a very good mood.

yeah this show is really loose/sloppy but there is some good stuff going on. i loved it when they would play of the girl in the middle of sets. there are also some great tags on daughter and i really liked the encores minus the terrible alive and botched last kiss. im a huge fan of the whole 2000 euro tour even if it was a bit flubtastic for the first few shows. i miss angry ed!

I was at both RR shows and agree with you. They started with an acoustic set night 2, hence the 6 slow songs to start. I preferred night 1 since it was a rockin' show and it seems like they needed to slow things down for night 2 since they already blew their load the previous night. Having said that, my load was gone as well, so I understood the acoustic set.

    Great thread!

Does anyone else think that the Japanese run from 2003 is absolutely choice? That whole series of shows is vintage PJ. Matt's drum sound on the Sendai boot is for some reason extra resonant and powerful, and this show features the beefiest version of Insignificance ever played and a really moving Immortality. The Osaka setlist is low on greatest hits and high on All or None, and the order of the songs is odd but works well. Tokyo is more of a greatest hits show but it works in combination with the other four. Freaking great run of shows. I'd take these five to a desert island.
