If the guy above said he just signed someone up in the 454XXX range, and I signed 11 months ago in the 432XXX range, and mine has not yet expired... that would mean there are some 22,000 paid members behind me, right?

So, if there are 73,417 paid members...

    73,417 - 22,000 = 51,417

Meaning there are only 51,417 paid members interspersed throughout numbers 1-432,XXX

    73,417 members x $20 = bottleneck free servers!

    Any math wizards out there?

If we know the current paid membership is 73,417

And if we know our member number is xxxxxx

Then we are at what percentage of the 73,417?

Are you at the 22% mark? Are you at the 81% mark?

(To get this equation, I think we would need to make assumptions, like there are an equal number of empty member numbers between 1xxx and 500xxx just to keep things simple).

SO... who can figure out that math problem?

That's going to be hard to tell... I would assume that there would be more 200,000s than 100,000, and more 300,000s than 200,000s, etc due to people letting old memberships expire. Anyway, I think you get the point.

    Yes and no.

I know for a while the website would assign anyone who purchased anything on the website a member number. And then it became active under that number when they actually bought the membership.

Yeah, but I hear story after story about people who let their membership lapse and have new numbers.

As someone else said, I bet there are more fans between 300,00 and 400,000+ than 0 and 200,000.

I'm 211xxx. I was about row 26 in 2003, row 20 in 2006, and row 16 in 2009 in Toronto. I'm slowly making my way the the front. :)

Probably not just Backspacer... remember I said I got my membership about 11 months ago, right before they announced their Fall tour. Since that point they did the Fall tour, released Backspacer, played ACL, played the 2nd half of the Fall tour, including the Philly 4, announced a European tour, and announced another American tour, including Jazz Fest.

I'd say that every one of those things are responsible for sign-ups in the last year.

I know for a while the website would assign anyone who purchased anything on the website a member number. And then it became active under that number when they actually bought the membership.

the 10C membership database issues a membership number for every unique order created, should the individual placing the order not be a current member. the membership privileges for the new number aren't activated unless a membership is subsequently purchased.

an increase of 22,XXX numbers doesn't represent an increase of 22,XXX membership dues.
To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."
