There were streaks on this tour where the band flat out delivered. Unıondale, Buffalo, and State College come to mind.

İt also can claim superiority in terms of bootleg quality...as good as it gets.

Their catalog was deep and you have the Boston and NY shows whıch were incredible.

    I agree!

(Haven't seen PJ prior to 2000, though).

Despite the Roskilde tragedy I'm going for the Binaural tour. The band covered an incredible number of cities, displayed good diversity with setlists, changed the way PJ bootlegs are traded forever and gave us the TB2000K dvd. Being a PJ fan and collector changed after this tour and all for the better. Second place 05, third 06!! :D

Agreed...........great thread, but obvious answer for anyone that attended ANY of these shows. I went to Boston Garden when Ed smashed through the stage. My brother was at the Orpheum show the next night. Atlanta is legendary.

I don't post often, but was just thinking about this today. I've been to all of these, in the US that is, and for me, it's 1993. Powerful, intense, intimate (comparatively speaking). It's my benchmark. The 1998 Yield tour is a close second for me.

I'm about to start the 2nd N. American leg of the 2003 tour on my ipod. But so far this is my favorite tour. I have already heard the NY/Mansfield shows at the end of this last leg but so far nothing beats the Riot Act tour.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

    9/29/04 Boston, 6/28/08 Mansfield, 8/23/09 Chicago, 5/15/10 Hartford

    8/5/16 Fenway, 8/7/16 Fenway
EV Solo: 6/16/11 Boston, 6/18/11 Hartford,

or, as my Atlanta KTS boot calls it: "would be" - Does anyon else fondly remember all the jacked up song titles from the bootleg days?

I would have to say objectively, listening back, the 94 tour was the best, but for me personally it was the Yield tour. It was summer, I just turned 21 and was following the band to multiple shows for the first time.

I consider 2000/Binaural tour their best tour. The most emotion packed setlists. Every night was truly a different experience. Plus it set bootlegs in motion.

the 2006 world tour was amazing....i'm partial to the 2003 tour....and i love listening to the 2000 boots. i don't feel like the band has been themselves since 2006. they've lost something and i can't figure out what it is. i saw them once in '07 at lollapalooza, 6 times in '08 including bonnaroo and msg, and 10/30-10/31 philly '09 so i feel like i have a qualified opinion on this. the only show that i really felt could even compare to the greatness of the shows that i saw pre-2007 was DC 2008.

anyone else feel the same way? i used to be able to feel the passion in every note the band played/ every note eddie sang for every show. i almost feel sometimes while watching them now, that they are just going through the motions. i've felt numerous times since '06 while watching them that they've almost become a caricature of their old selves.

Good thread - I gotta go with 2003 - Rior Act tour. Great shows, great songs, passion from the band, Ed was still angry, less commercial, etc...
  • 1st place: 2000 Binaural tour.
    2nd place: 1995 Vitolgy tour.
    3rd place: 1998 Yield tour.

    IMO.

Summer 98 I think it was the Yield tour. Awesome. One of my favorite bootlegs is from one of the Yield shows in Australia. This tour may be my favorite because it was my first. May be biased.

I've been to every tour since 96..........they're all great due to their own special moments. But as far as raw emotion and motivation 2003 was something else. When I go back to those boots they're above all the rest!!! Not to mention the Buffalo show and State College show which I was at were top notch performances.

*****Honorable mention to the Binaural tour of 2000 and the Canadian Tour of 2005
