They gotta break curfew, and that will cost the band thousands of dollars if they do it each minute @ MSG. I wonder why certain arena's charge bands if they play over a certain time limit.
I figure one reason for the extra charge is to cover the costs from having to keep employees there longer than scheduled. Maybe there could also be costs incurred from violating noise ordinances in some locations if they play too late.
As for topping the Philly show last year, I don't know how they would do it, but maybe they could. I was at State College, Grand Rapids, Toledo ('96 & '04), London ONT, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza ('07), Bridge School ('01 & '06), and plenty of others, but the Halloween show was the best Pearl Jam concert I have attended. Of course that show just beats out Radiohead at Bonnaroo in 2006 as the greatest performance I've seen by any band.
I am from NY and I have seen PJ over 30+ times I was lucky enough to see them all four times in Philly. I seen all msg shows jones beach or anything in the tri-state area. The philly shows really rocked that final show had just the right amount of rare songs w/fan faves and the total atmosphere just all came together to make it a special night. Now keep in mine MSG 98 was truly a great show, and philly 2005, was right there but its gonna be hard for them to top night 4. Yea they can probably play dirtyfrank, or even ANGEL but still. You had to be there from the Philly montage, Rocky music......incredible show....mike ending it with yellowled/star (balloons, confettie....all the works). I was lucky enough to get tix for both MSG and Hartford....but although in my head that was probably the greatest show, I can never be dissapointed and will enjoy what PJ has stored for this year.

Maybe you should retire as a Pearl Jam fan and let someone else take over?

Pearl Jam is a growth in progress- Its clear they are getting better with each passing year so pretty easy to see we will not see their best till we see their last
They are "playing" better and better, but Ed's starting to really slip to where he can't just change the phrasing. Not a gripe, just an observation. Still brings it plenty though.

Only if they are the last band(or event) to ever play at MSG.
