I'm personally not saying he did. Never said that. I am just asking the question. He;s not my fav drummer for the band. But I like him. Just wanted other people's opinions.

I thought this topic was going to be about matt ruining this tour because he is going to be doing the soundgarden reunion, that might be a possibility. But there is no way that Matt ruined the band, its ridiculous to say otherwise

Band had a problem with Dave, and fired him for whatever reason. (I preferred Dave's playing though)
Band asked Jack to play with them. JACK saved PJ from implosion, and changed the way the music was performed live and the mood of the music/band.
When Jack couldn't continue playing live, the band asked Matt Cameron to play. Matt allowed the band to continue, and also changed the way the music was performed live, though I still give Jack the credit for saving the band.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

NO! Matt was destined to be in Pearl Jam. He played on Stone's demo way back, Temple, toured with PJ while in SG. It was meant to be.
Jack saved the band, Matt provided the solid foundation they needed to be the greatest American rock band of all time!
IMO
Good points! I used to not like Matts drums too much when he first joined.. I think it was because I really liked Jacks loose, kinda tribal beats. Of course, No COde and Yield are my two favorites. But over time I began to appreciate Matt more. He's a bad mutha and solid as hell. I think I love his drums the best on 1/2 full and also on Got Some.
Matt didn't ruin PJ. Not at all. No complaint here. But...there's a always going to be a question in my mind about what the band would sound like today if Jack was still in the band. Nothing negative about Matt, I just know that Jack had an a different influence on the band and it was pretty obvious. That can be said of any band that has had a change in creative influence through changes in personel. It's apples and oranges though.
Comments
There is no discussion to be had on this topic. in fact, he may have saved Pearl Jam
