Hotwire has a 3 1/2 star hotel near the Sprint Center for $57.00. My guess is that it's The Westin, but I'm not sure. Here is the link http://www.hotwire.com/hotel/details.jsp?actionType=2&inputId=hotel-results&searchId=5340948493&selectedSolutionId=72805876056&selectedPGoodId=86713379284

Anyone have any hotwire or priceline tips? I tried bidding super low on priceline ($45), and didn't get a 3 1/2 star. I'm shut out for 24 hours because I didn't want to expand the criteria. I'm thinking if I go to 55/60, I could get lucky. As I posted above, I may just take the hotwire deal as I suspect it is The Westin....

I have never been to Kansas City except to drive through it. Why do you suspect it is the Westin?

Also, is the Westin close to the venue?

    Thanks for the info.

Not the Westin, compare the pool with hotwire, then the hotel they dont match.

As the poster above mentioned, I'm probably wrong about The Westin. Here are hotels that are located around the Sprint Center, sorted by distance. http://travelc.priceline.com/hotel/newHotelSearch.do?jsk=2003010a2203010a20100316220615892c11476483&plf=PCLH&noWait=Y

Looks like I'm staying at Hotel Phillips, a 4 star for $58.00 on priceline (originally $148).

Only thing about that hotel is priceline get's stuck with a single bed and a smoking room and so far they will not budge from that. :(

I was thinking about calling now and requesting two double beds and non-smoking, or you don't think they would honor that since it was purchased on priceline? IMO, it shouldn't matter, I'm a customer just like others that are staying there.

Others on this board have call and requested a non-smoking room, and one with a double bed and the hotel would not change it for them, but yes give it a try you may get someone different that answers the phone.

I would rather be at the Westin like you than the Hotel Phillips because the Westin is smoke-free, still can't take that risk just yet.

Got your PM Rival, but don't have the promo code yet. Hang tight folks. I have a $79 confirmed group block at the Westin (normally $219/night). I will post as soon as I have it!!!!

we tried to call several times and even offered to pay some extra for a room with 2 beds - no deal. Best they could do was offer a roll away for an extra $15.
  • As promised, here is our official group link to the Westin. $79 is the rate compared to the normal of $219!!

I tried to reserve, but the message below is what I got. I first asked for a King bed, but then changed when I got this message. I tried it again with double beds and got the same message. I tried for Sunday and Monday nights. Did anyone else have any luck?

I just got a call from the gal at the Westin. She said she had a few requests for Sunday and Monday, but our block was only for Monday, (me not realizing people might need both). I had her add a few rooms to Sunday, so try again in a little while. That should be the only issue.

Thanks so much for your work in this. Looking forward to meeting you at the pre-party. By the way, my husband and I will be vacationing near Leadville in August for the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race (we are support for friends - not doing it ourselves).

Sounds good to me. I'll bring hubby. Is it close to the Westin?

It looks like the Westin is about a mile away from the venue and Power and Light District so we'll either need to hoof it or hail a quick cab ride.

  • Hey everyone. I also just hooked up a group rate "Pearl Jam Fan Club" for the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Not as good of a rate but still got $99/night instead of the usual $135. Standard room with either two doubles or one King. This hotel is a bit closer, only 2 blocks from the City Power and Light District and 3 blocks from Sprint Center. I have 10 rooms to start and can open more as needed. I will have a link for booking online tomorrow sometime. This offer is not good until the contract is drafted so I'll let you all know when it's set up.

It looks pretty good, newly renovated, and has a Starbucks and free wifi so you can share your show experiences when you stumble back in! Hope this in addition to the Westin saves us all some cash for drinks and merchandise.

Here is the link to the hotel if you are interested in looking:
