Wasn't there a tour where it was hard to get tix?

I I just seem to remember, it went from back in the day, like 2000 and maybe 2003, when everybody who wanted them got tickets, to a tour or two where it was real hard and they sold out online almost instantly, to now being back to where most all of the shows are easy to get 10 club tickets to (except maybe in places like NYC).
words seem so out of place.

I think the explosion of "Last Kiss" brought in a bunch of bandwagon 10C fans for those tours right after, but I also think that as a band ages they get more clout in terms of being able to block off seats. The venue doesn't care because they just want as many butts in seats as possible. I do think that the "relative ease" of this tour is mainly due to a bit of the economy, the last minute nature of the announcement and the fact that they were probably able to secure many more tickets than last time (and natural attrition of 10C members).

2003 was the last tour it was "easy" to get tickets

    2006 wasnt that bad

but these "mini" tours have made it much more difficult to score tix

Well, just for the record, I guess you can call me one of those bandwagon fans. Not because I loved Last Kiss, but because that is how I found out the 10 Club even existed (now, it is also worth noting, I was about 14 years old at this time). But I remember in 2000 getting it in the mail and mailing it in, and I remember in 2003 going to CVS with my mom to get money orders to mail back to the 10 club for the two shows I went to, so back then, all you had to do was mail it in and everyone got seats, but they no longer let everyone who wants them get seats, and on a couple tours there, it seemed like shows sold out real fast, and I feel like maybe the 10 Club wasnt able to get as many seats those years.

Was it? I know that was the mail in tour without Ticketmaster...the art on the tickets was awesome. You could only go to one show back then. I went to Toledo...since I figured it was out of the way. And it was...great show btw.

For the record, I didn't mean any real offense to that comment. I just remember the 2000 and 2003 tours were filled with peeps who were seriously crushed when they didn't play Last Kiss. I'm not a hater and I'm glad you got on board mate.

I found PJ in the Summer before my senior year in high school in 1992 and my life has never been the same. And yes, I realize that I am now THAT old guy, but I'll be rocking my old ass out at Columbus and (hopefully) Indy.

Not for me. I logged into the goods section. Refreshed about a minute before tickets went onsale, saw the buy option pop up, clicked on it, filled in my credit card info, completed the transaction. I was shocked it was so easy, so i logged back into the forums to see what all the fuss was about, since I had no trouble, and I saw a million threads complaining about being shut out. So somehow I was just amazingly lucky I guess.

In 1996 I think they crashed all the phone lines across the country. At least i know they did in Seattle! Of course those were the day before buying tix online.

Oh, don't worry, I was not offended, just saying, if it hadn't been for Last Kiss, I might not have ever joined the club, or maybe it would have just happen a lot later than it did.

Pretty easy, simply change quantity to 0...
  • Ok, so was it St. Louis tix that were easy to come by? Let's not complain! I'm pretty thankful that ticket sales are going smoothly. Just possibly, the constant complaints for a better server have been heard and let's say thanks that so far the whole buying 10 club tix has been a pleasurable experience.

I saw my first PJ show in 93 (Finsbury Park) and that was the hardest one to get a ticket to because I had to get my Dad to drive to the record store to buy it for me!

I can honestly say that I've never had any other trouble getting tickets to the shows I've wanted to go to, and recently that includes The Astoria, The Vic, MSG 08 and Shepherds Bush. Until a few weeks ago I lived in the UK and I've seen PJ play in the UK, the US and Australia. The Hyde Park show in the summer will be the first time I haven't gone to a show that I really want to see, but that's only because I moved overseas last month.

    I guess I'm just lucky...

I think it was 2006 when they first started using the site to sell tickets. Maybe the 2005 Canadian tour. But I remember 2006 being a nightmare with the site crashing and people panicking and cursing the 10C and their servers, hitting refresh for hours and hours. They put up multiple cities for sale at the same time.

Since then I've been able to get tickets to every show I have tried for (including the Vic, which I got in less than 2 minutes).

And it seems to be getting easier. Had zero issues in 2008 (didn't try for MSG though) and zero issues in 2009 including Philly. And it was even easier this year.

Anyway, 2006 sticks out in my mind as the most frustrating year since that was the first big tour with online ticket selling through 10C.

yeah the 1996 tour was hard. Back then you'd get your ticket thingy in the mail - send them a money order and hope your tickets came in the mail... tho the tickets were big and beautiful -- and like 19 bucks.
