My 4 Year old daughter loves PJ. She rocks out to them daily and requires PJ when ever we drive somewhere. I am thinking about buying tickets to the St. Louis show, would it be bad to take her to the show?

A 4 year old has no business going to a rock concert. Get a babysitter.

correct me if i'm wrong, but don't 4 year olds usually have to always go to the bathroom and be fed and have short attention spans and stuff? and what happens at 8:45 when she wants to go home? plus all that cigarette/pot smoke and drunk guys, i mean at philly 4 last year a guy walked on top of me from the seat behind me. then we got the issue of it being really loud... it might be more of a hassle than you think. maybe consider bringing her when she's older and can appreciate it more? :)

my daughter's 5 and is a HUGE pj fan. that said, i'd never expose her to a full concert at this age. Ed live, yes. PJ live, absolutely not

  • Get her some earplugs or have her wear earmuffs and go! Hell, I've seen 6 month olds at Allgood and other festivals. It is obvious that you'll need to be very protective of her. As long as she is safe, who cares what other people think.

I would suggest waiting for an opportunity to bring the 4 year old to a show when you have lawn seats. Better for you as maybe you can have another adult in your party to assist. Plus, you can move around a bit more when the child inevitably gets antsy. Can't wait for when my godsons are a little older... plan on bringing them to a Bridge School benefit.

    Bad idea.
Neither of you would enjoy it.
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream

I would wait. A PJ concert is going to be too much -- both in terms of noise and crowds and in terms of length -- for a pre-schooler. Little kids get tired and overwhelmed very easily. I think both of you will be happier if you arrange for childcare and go on your own.

I took my boys for the first time when my younger son was a very mature nine-year-old. I never would have taken my older son at that age. We all wore earplugs, we had a great time, but had we taken the boys when they were younger it would have been a disaster.

Exactly! And a lot of people sitting around you too.
I am actually rethinking even an Ed show. I was at the Milwaukee one and got hit by that guy's crutches. The guy they had to drag out. So I'm not even sure I would take a kid there.
My kids are all going to be pissed to find out PJ is going to be in STL and none of them are going to go with me.

Made me laugh reading this...4 year olds always have to be fed? Seriously? You don't have a kid do you?

I do agree about the noise issue, the drunk people issue, the smoke issue and the potential for whining to go home early though.

4 seems a bit young. if you do, bring earplugs, skip the opening band, and be prepared to bail if it becomes too much.

having said that - I have taken my three sons to shows, the youngest was 7 when we saw Iron Maiden and then saw the Foo Fighters. But I knew he was mature enough to handle it.

If you think you will be able to enjoy the show as you wish, then fine. Ear protection, etc. You will be distracted by your kid though and you will have to keep an eye on her and her surroundings!

4 is too young, although Im bringing my unborn Child to the show.
  • Why would anyone bring or even think about bringing a 4 year old to a rock concert? Have a babysitter watch her at your trailer. LOL

It would be selfish, she won't enjoy nearly as much as you might hope. Stick to dvd's until 7 or 8 and go BIG!!! I have a 4 and 6 year old and they love watching shows with me and they both know that once 7-8 comes- It's party time!!!!

My trailer? I own two very successful businesses and live in a nice home. Forgive me for thinking that it would be fun to take my daughter to see the band that I enjoy listening to with her.

Don't pay attention to the idiot replies. But some of the others have given some very good advice. In the end, it's your decision. My daughter's four and although it would be tempting, I just know she'd want to leave 1/2 way through the show and wouldn't sit still for one minute. But that's just my kid!

Yeah I know what you mean. But I do think it is not the wisest choice. of course, you know your daughter better than anyone here.

If you do go, get Ear Muffs for her. For children that young ear plugs don't work as well because they don't get a proper fit.

  • All I'm going to say to this is that I'm a very responsible parent. I'm ridiculously protective and do everything I can to keep my son safe. My wife and I provide a very stable environment and don't subject him to anything questionable at his age.

That being said, my wife and I took him to see U2 last year when he was 2 1/2 and it was awesome. He loved it and we've never regretted it. There were several factors to this, primarily that it was outdoors and that we got seats as far back as we could. If your show is outdoors and you could get lawn seats then that would be ideal. Just get some earplugs or some big puffy headphones, plenty of water and kid-friendly snacks and you'll be fine.

There are some people in this thread that are seriously off the mark on this. If you do it right and prepare accordingly you'll have a blast!

DO IT!!!! Espically if she loves PJ, she'll never forget it and neither will you!!

I took my son to see PJ last year at Spectrum #3, he loved it. Although he's 10, he's still a child. People were very respectful and everyone said how cool it was. Be prepared for the pot and cigarette smoke, but there's nothing you can do about that.
