This might be considered to be too UN-American to have Muslims friends.

human wrecking ball, that's a good one

i do not support him for several reasons:
-continuing the war(s) and occupations and increasing attacks into pakistan
-not being hard enough in pushing for single payer
    -re signing the patriot act.
-being too much of a pussy and trying to be bipartisan when he had a green light from the people to push his agenda
-not seeking charges for bush and cheney and co. for their actions
    -failure to close gitmo
-failure to bring trials for those at gitmo
-bailing out banks and making it possible for them to STILL give out massive compensation and bonuses for fucking us in the first place

i could go on but i am at work and can't sit here and work on this all day...

i support obama because he is my president, and he knows more than any one of us on here about what is going on in this country. he is far better than what we would have gotten with a mccain palin ticket so i am gonna just sit back and watch. but i will not stand for gun nuts and right wingers threatening the man, you treasonous bastards.

    word.

seriously...the finger pointing is so counterproductive.

your side is at fault, no your side is.
your side allowed this to happen, no your side did
your side started it, no your side did
meanwhile...both sides agree that there is a problem, and instead of focusing on compromise...we get what we have here today...a failure to communicate ;)

We've managed to make every important issue a partisan one, ensuring nothing will ever fucking change...this thread perfectly demonstrates why.

Democrats Use GOP to Build Case for Reconciliation
    By Paul Bedard
    Posted March 1, 2010

Forget all that talk last week that President Obama and the Democrats had no plans to use the legislative tactic of "reconciliation" to force through healthcare reform with a simple one-vote majority in the Senate. Not only do the Democrats plan to use it, but the party is swiftly trying to educate the public on why it's not such a rare procedure.

In an interesting online bid, the Democratic National Committee has spliced together quotes from Republicans and sympathetic pundits who admit that the GOP has been a big fan of the tactic when it has helped the party. Said the DNC today: "As they desperately scramble to paint passing legislation with a simple majority as radical, Republicans want you to forget that they have used reconciliation to pass major pieces of legislation, including the $1.8 trillion Bush tax cut for the wealthiest Americans, with a simple majority in the past and more often than Democrats. And you don't need to take our word for it."

For proof, the DNC released a Web ad called "A Couple of Points on Reconciliation." Here is a link and the transcript they sent Whispers:

SEN. TOM COBURN: "I'd make a couple of points on reconciliation." [Face The Nation, 2/28/2010]

CNN: "It's been used 22 times, often on non budget issues by every President since Jimmy Carter." [2/28/2010]

DANA MILIBANK: "Well I think it's been pointed out repeatedly that it's not any particularly radical step." [Reliable Sources, 2/28/2010]

JIM ACOSTA, CNN: "Republicans have used it more when they've been in the majority—16 times. Compare that to the number of times used under Democratic majority, just six times." [3/1/2010]
CHRIS WALLACE: "So the argument 'well, it should be used for, you know, small budgetary matters ...' The fact is it's been used 22 times and two-thirds of the time, by Republicans not Democrats." [Fox News Sunday, 2/28/2010]

CNN: "Recent examples include Medicare overhaul for physician payments, back in 1989." [2/28/2010]

COBURN: "Welfare reform happened with reconciliation." [Face The Nation, 2/28/2010]

ACOSTA: "Reconciliation has been used for the children's health initiative, the CHIP program and COBRA, that's that program that allows you to take your health insurance with you if you lose your job." [3/1/2010]

COBURN: "The Bush tax cuts happened with reconciliation." [Face The Nation, 2/28/2010]

GORDON PETERSON: "You can't get 60 votes because the party on the other side of the aisle refuses to do anything constructive in this area. Is that Democrat Harry Reid in 2010? No, that's Judd Gregg in twenty—2005." [Inside Washington, 2/28/2010]

DAVID GREGORY: "You have voted for bills through reconciliation nine times since 1989." [Meet the Press, 2/28/2010]

SEN. JOHN MCCAIN: "Yes, I have voted for them." [Meet the Press, 2/28/2010]
    M
SNBC: "Reconciliation, that simple majority." [MSNBC, 3/1/2010]

FOX AND FRIENDS: "Now reconciliation is changing to simple majority, doesn't that sound much easier to swallow?" [Fox and Friends, 3/1/2010]

    CHYRON: Rec-on-cil-i-a-tion a majority vote

got anything to say about how terrible reconciliation is now? it has been used for some landmark legislation...

next do you want to talk about the gop use of the filibuster? the republicans in this senate are on pace to use that tactic 3oo% more times than any senate in the history of the country...and people wonder why i call them Grand Obstructionist Party...

I had to go to work this day. I should have been more specific when I said it wasa un-constitutional. what I meant was the whole idea of making us buy healthcare if we don't want it or you will be fined is un-constitutional and using Reconciliation to pass it makes it even more so. It has never been used for something as large as this bill is and nor has it been used in a way that it will effect as many people that it will.

The majority of americans do not support Obama' healthcare plan, and if the Dems use this process to push it through it will be political suicide for the democrats and Obama. They will loose the House and Senate if they do this.

i am fairly certain that bush's trillion dollar tax cuts are larger than this bill...also, reconciliation is not illegal or unconstitutional....ask your republican colleagues who have used it most recently...

also, where are you getting your polls? fox noise? the overwhelming majority may be against it because it does not go far enough and that there is no public option. i saw one on yahoo 2 or 3 days ago that said 78% of the population are in favor of a public option. you can find polls to say one thing and i can dispute it with one i find.

if it is political suicide, shouldn't you be supporting it then???

What exactly is your point... if some is a doctor, does this somehow give them supreme knowledge on economy or how to run a government or even make healthcare more available to the citizens? Of course not! As someone else pointed out earlier, if all you do is discredit the other side instead of trying to fix the problem, nothing gets resolved. So with that stated, you rip into Obama and Pelosi as destroying the nation yet seem to ignore many of the initiatives or backing by Reps or similar who do no better. Last I checked, both parties are very responsible for destroying our nation over the many decades, you just seemed to have check in to the situation when we have a Dem in office.

Do you just say anything that comes to your mind? Actually one of the only Republicans that was prepared for the Summit and not just talking points, Senator Coburn, had some very good ideas that I am pretty sure Obama incorporated. Oh yeah, hes a doctor.

i know for a fact that most doctors who are practicing do not know much about how insurance works. that is why they hire billing and coding professionals to take care of that for them. these billing people know the ins and outs of insurance and all of the plans. the docs know what is not covered by certain insurances, like certain meds are not covered by certain insurance and certain office procedures that we would like to do are not covered by certain insurances, but we have to get prior authorization or precertification before we can proceed with some things like braces and boots, and certain injections. does anyone really think these non-practicing doctors that have been in congress understands how much things have changed in the last 20 years? i doubt it..

prfeclefts would have all of us believe that obama is ignoring the GOP's requests when he is implementing four of their ideas into his own bill he is constructing...
