  • What soundtrack was The Wall for?

    Nevermind. I figured it out.

Purple Rain is still more entertaining. Prince is a genius.

I really like Purple Rain as well. Still think The Wall is a better soundtrack and movie. Then again I'm not a chick. ;)

I'll take the Spawn soundtrack over Judgment Night (although both are pretty decent)

    Filter/Crystal Method
    Marilyn Manson/Sneaker Pimps
    Slayer/Atari Teenage Riot
    Prodigy/Tom Morello
    Metallica/DJ Spooky
    Silverchair/Vitro
    Stabbing Westward and someone
    Butthole Surfers/Moby
    and a few others

And how could we forget these two?

Of a very different style but still one of the best soundtracks out there is Passion (Music from The Last Temptation of Christ) by Peter Gabriel. Mostly instrumental and with various world music influences. IMO, just great. Check it out.

this post makes me very happy.
    :D
    seriously.
one of the greatest soundtracks. ever.
    love it.
    gabriel is pure genius.

i also really love the soundtrack to out of africa. sooo beautiful!
like most of the more obvious choices already mentioned, but you bet...i too love music scored specifically for a film. good stuff.
    Stay with me...

    Dead Man Walking is brilliant.

But as much as I hate to agree with the Donkey, Purple Rain is fucking great !

    mentions:

The Big Chill ( one of my all time favorite movies )

In Good Company ( cheesy movie, really good soundtrack )
    Peace, Love.

I'm shocked that every other reply isn't Singles. It's mine by a longshot. I'm pretty biased really because a close second would be Into the Wild. But as far as soundtracks with no affiliation to Pearl Jam, I'd have a hard time deciding. I actually really liked the soundtrack to Born on the Fourth of July. There are a lot of good ones but very few great ones to me. Most I like have a few great songs but then they peter off quickly. A lot of the Judd Apatow movies have great soundtracks. I'm rambling now.

A friend of mine in college claimed this was his favorite album period. I think he was just trying to be outragious and unique. :D
