sounds like a bridge school benefit from 10 yrs ago. I'd choose different bands today.

In the interests of having a quality band who are no longer high profile but still kick out great music could we have the music (currently recording) and Ocean colour scene....

and hows about some punk in there - Rancid

They were indeed, I was also at Glasto 97 and 03, please do not try and claim 03 was a performance anywhere near the one they gave in 97 - which continues to rank at number 1 in all the best gigs ever polls I see in the UK. That was a night of pure magic, and something i will never forget. The week later Ok computer hit the shelves, a masterpiece and a thiong of pure beauty. Ever since they have put out countless dreadful excuses of albums that people continue to buy because its radiohead. Thankfully they still cut it live, but on record, they have IMO become a joke. its like they ahve purposefully sabotaged their popularity

i doubt it, I'm just so happy i saw them in 1997 - I saw them in doncaster dome too....what a show but wasnt close to Glastonbury. That was one hell of a special evening.

I was told in rainbows was a return to form....I found it totally dull and boring. Like they were jamming in rehersals and at randomly throughout the songs Thoms is having his toenails pulled out with pliers...

It was the wettest festival I have ever been to and when Thom Yorke started singing "rain down on me" and the heavens opened again it was just an amazing moment. Like you, I've lost a lot of interest since 1997 but a lot of people have lost a lot of interested in Pearl Jam since around that time too. Not me though....

Does anyone listen to bands that came out in the past 5-7 years?
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
  • Gmoney wrote:

I'd struggle to even name one... or at least one I liked.
A friend gave me some stuff recently, here is my informed opinion:

    LCD SS = rubbish
Anthony and the Jonsons = rubbish
Band of Horses = quite good for a few listens
    Bright Eyes = boring
    Iron and Wire = boring
    Fleet Foxes = boring
    Neko Case = boring

Whenever I try a new band I'm disappointed, whenever I try an old band I haven't heard before it generally sounds good. Why bother with new stuff?

Yea I don't like those bands either, except BOH. BUT- try these:
    Beach House
    Grizzly Bear
    MMJ
    The Black Keys
    Yeah Yeah Yeahs
    Phoenix
    Passion Pit
    Florence and the Machine
    KOL
    Shins
    Strokes
    TV on radio

And those are just the more main stream bands I quickly thought of. There are soooo many great indie bands out there!!

It was incredible but I think I preferred 95 just because it was my first and because it was sunny and, therefore, I didn't suffer from trench foot for an entire decade afterwards. Not pleasant.

I'm out of touch! Of course I know KOL and The Strokes, I'd hardly say they are bands of the last 5-7 years. I went to see The Strokes in the Fleece and Firkin in Bristol before the first record came out and they were playing to about 200 people. That must be over ten years ago. That was back in the day when I was cool...

Thanks though, I'll maybe give some of the others a punt.
