But while you're out there catching them waves on unemployment you just keep on supporting all this money spending for jobs.....makes a real lot of fucking sense. I'm sure your kids will really appreciate it.
i am sure my kids would feel better paying to keep our economy from complete collapse rather than paying for 2 fucking stupid unnecessary wars...

So you can drain more tax dollars from the hard-working Americans , by collecting unemployment and surfing all summer instead of looking for a job. . . you seem so proud of yourself! It is the best time ever to be on unemployment because they keep sucking us working Americans dry by extending unemployment . Thanks buddy! Personally I could not live with that on my conscious.
    ...
Yeah... the only reason I probably wouldn't look for a job would be to just piss off you Tea Partiers so you can make more of those vastly entertaining signs.

Oh and... thank you in advance for paying my electric bills so i can run the air conditioning all day to keep my cats all comfy while I'm out at Huntington Beach, catching some tasty barrels.
Cali the state of libs...I should have known!.......I spent a week in Huntington Beach and meet some really cool people, I loved it! Went into L.A. and what a different world not so cool of people there . . . It most be something about the beach that draw the nice people....I live at the beach and it is as different as night and day when you go into town as far as the demeanor of people. It really shocks me that you surf . . . I have never met a surfer with your attitude as far as the way you communicate with others. I would wish you luck in finding a job but that would be pointless...

Well... actually... you should hope I don't get laid off. The lay-off here isn't necessarily because the work isn't here... it is a directive from our executive management to cut operating costs. They get HUGE bonuses if they can cut costs. We are merely numbers representing dollar figures on the accounting ledger. If I go... the work is still there.
    ...
As for surfing... yup... we aren't all, 'Cowabunga! Gnarly, rad, dude..' all the time. That's a stereotype. I surf with Union men, office workers and engineers. And our attitudes are as different as we are. We may differ one some political issues, such as taxes, but was all agree that there is too much emphasis on building and consumerism. Probably because we sit in the place where all the waste that people toss out from their cars and homes end up in our water.
Maybe, instead of building ugly boxes that are too expensive for most people to buy in the remaining open spaces... we fix the run down places in our cities. And maybe if product packaging was better proportioned... there wouldn't be so much plastic in the surf.

    here is another one
Today in Congress, the spotlight fell on big rate hikes in health care premiums. A House panel grilled the top executive from the parent firm of Californias Anthem Blue Cross. The company has scheduled increases as high as 39 percent for its individual policyholders. The grilling comes the day before congressional Republicans and Democrats join President Obama for his much anticipated health care summit. And Democrats called the Anthem increases a powerful reason to enact their stalled health care overhaul.

    NPRs David Welna reports.

DAVID WELNA: With Toyotas top executive testifying today elsewhere on Capitol Hill, you might think it was bad timing for House Democrats to hold a simultaneous hearing on Anthem Blue Crosss double-digit rate hikes. But that did not seem to bother Bart Stupak, the Michigan Democrat who chairs the Energy and Commerce Committee's Oversight and Investigations panel.

Representative BART STUPAK (Democrat, Michigan): This hearing could not come at a better time. It provides a frightful reminder that unless Congress and the administration acts, Americans across the country will continue to experience large premium increases and will be priced out of the market.

WELNA: At the witness table sat three Anthem Blue Cross policyholders who got letters telling them their premiums were going up. Los Angeles self-employed writer Jeremy Arnold said his rates rose 26 percent last year and will go up another 38 percent on May 1st.

Mr. JEREMY ARNOLD (Writer): My premiums are poised to rise to a level that is a whopping 74 percent higher than barely over a year ago. This is outrageous. My benefits have not improved in any way.

WELNA: Interior design consultant Julie Henriksen of Westchester, California, said the health insurance she has for herself and her two boys will go up by 28 percent and cost close to what she pays for her mortgage.

Ms. JULIE HENRIKSEN (Interior Design Consultant): Not to make light of the situation but if I were to send out a letter today in my industry stating that I was raising my hourly consultant rate by almost 30 percent, I would not be working.

WELNA: That rate hike was unapologetically defended though by Angela Braly. She is the president and CEO of WellPoint. Its the parent firm of Anthem Blue Cross. Braly told lawmakers her company is not to blame for rising health care costs.

Ms. ANGELA BRALY (President and CEO, WellPoint): The increases were seeing in California are due to factors that weve been sounding the alarm about for years: the rise in health care costs and healthy people opting out of the system when other issues arise, such as the tough economic times were experiencing today.

WELNA: That came as a bit of a surprise for the lone Republican who questioned Braly, Michael Burgess of Texas.

Representative MICHAEL BURGESS (Republican, Texas): You had to know this was going to be trouble. I mean, a 39 percent rate increase in this climate? You -do you know what weve been doing up here in the last year? You know whats happening down at the White House tomorrow?

    Ms. BRALY: Yes, yes.

Rep. BURGESS: You knew this was going to be trouble.

WELNA: And Illinois Democrat Jan Schakowsky reminded Braly that in 2008, 39 WellPoint executives were paid more than a million dollars.

Representative JAN SCHAKOWSKY (Democrat, Illinois): How much money do you make?

Ms. BRALY: My salary is 1.1 million. I was - I received stock compensation with a value of 8.5 million and last year an annual incentive payment of $73,000.

Rep. SCHAKOWSKY: Well, of course, it makes sense that you would need a big rate increase.

WELNA: For Democrats, the hearing was a chance to tout their health care plan as a solution to soaring costs. Here's Californias Henry Waxman.

Representative HENRY WAXMAN (Democrat, California): Weve got to standardize insurance and make sure that people have access to it. Thats what President Obama has been trying to do. Were going to go to a summit tomorrow that the president has called for the Democrats and Republicans. I hope we can work on this in a bipartisan basis. This shouldnt be a Democratic or a Republican issue.

WELNA: Perhaps it shouldnt, but nothing polarizes the two parties than overhauling health care.

  • Mr. eh eh eh Teleprompter and the Dms made nothing but fools of themselves.Obama was not coherent or subsitive. He didnt score any points. He came across to me as being very arrogant, impatient, petulant and partisan, and frankly un informed. He also spoke more than anyone. He tried to cut off areas of inquries that were damaging to him by diverting or characterizing their arguments as talking points. He also tried to diminsh those who challenged him effectivly.

The republicans succeeding by showing that they were not the party of NO as Obama,Pelosi,Reed, and the media have been trying to characterize them as.

Next we will see Mr Teleprompter,Reed, and Pelosi embrace polut bureau tactics. So that they can get what they want
like Chavez and Castro. Because that's their mentality. They are only intrested in dictating to us. They have no interest in what we want or what we think. They will do what ever they can,cut whatever deal they can, threaten whoever they want to get whatever votes nesecary. So that they can impose the worst imaginable healthcare on us and our families.

See. This is part of the problem. YOU are part of the problem.
You see it all as partisan politicing... You versus them... Republican versus Democrats... where someone has to 'win'. Win what?
Well, the big picture is that the legislators are not there to defeat other legislator. They are on the same team. It is like a football team where the offense want to destroy their defense and vice versa. How many football teams win games when their defensive team tries to get their offensive team to fail?
    My guess? None.

  • you are so cluless it's not even worth my time responding to your post. It has nothing to do with us vs them. It has to with getting it right. In other words yes we need to do something about the high cost of premiums and access to health ins,but the way Obama wants to do it will BANKRUPT THIS COUNTRY.. Why is it so hard for you to understand that.

It's called COMMON SENSE. Something that you obviously don't have.
