Watching Live at the Garden,.....was always a fan of Green Disease, but when I got to it tonight I thought jeeeeeeezus....that is a great song....

I remember when I re-discovered In My Tree back in 2000 or so...I was so pissed off at myself that I let some years go without "understanding" it....

Anyway...."I guess there's nothing wrong with what you say............"...funny...In My Tree just came on....brilliant moment at the Garden.....

Present Tense...........rediscovered years ago. Now I listen to anything new a million times over. I kind of miss the whole rediscovery thing though. Still happens once in a while with older songs or bottom tracks.

The album version of Corduroy. I was so sick of hearing it live, but it is/was so perfect coming out of the studio.

Not that I ever lost track of it but after hearing Long Road in Chicago and it had been a while since I heard it live I remember how damn good that song is and how much I love it.

"Whipping" about 2 years ago. Heard in on a drive from Eastern Canada to Western, and it hasn't lost its edge since.

Rats..ever since they played it last summer at virgin fest. Love the raw vocals and the Michel Jackson lyric thrown in at the end, too.

  • Hard to Imagine
Rediscovered it just before 2005- perfect timing~
It's in my top 5 for certain!
  • Here is a good one..IMO..I got to thinking after I started this thread, and this next one was my favorite song by miles for about 1.5 years... (heard it on the radio and had no idea where to find it (didnt even know the name of it), I died waiting to hear it again and when I heard it played 1.5 months later, it burned a place in my brain since the expectations for the song were exceeded...can still remember how excited I was when they said, "Here's new Pearl Jam" and that first chord hit, and Eddie started...She lived on a curve in the road...) went back tonight to listen to the studio version and not only did it not let me down...but it took me back to the summer of 1993 instantly...I usually skip the version on live albums...

No Way - absolutely a badass song. rediscovered because of Philly 10/28/2009. McCready rocks the piss out of this one at the end. Great, great song beginning to end!

I'll see your -1 and throw in a +2. I used to loathe the studio version for some reason, but lately I can't stop digging it. Never before was I into Corduroy but now the album version is a top 10 for me. Sooooo good.

The version of Long Road from the Dead Man Walking soundtrack with EV and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. I had a Hindu friend pass away, last week, and the song was appropriate.

  • I don't know if it completely counts, but I was at work the other night reliving my double PJ Chicago weekend, and Comeback came back on from the first night... I've never really gotten overly excited about the song, but damn if that version isn't 100% beautiful. I don't know if the emotion had something to do with the crowd singing Happy B-day to Jeff's friend, or what...

    ...but just fucking beautiful.

Otherwise, studio Brain of J popped up on random at work tonight, and the opening little riff made my head snap up and a smile come across my face... love that tune.
If Adam and Eve had Taco Bell they would have never eaten that filthy fruit...

don't know the chicago version, but I re-discovered Comeback on the Immagine DVD and I am just loving it...don't think the studio version does it justice. when sung live it is just so raw... as you so perfectly said it...

    ....just fucking beautiful.

Lights Years is one for me. I also saw it at the O2, I re-discovered it then but it took on a whole new meaning a week later when my Dad died.

I'm Open is another re-discovery for me.

    GREAT thread
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
