Anyone watch? I do during the Olympics, other than that hardly ever. Should be good game though. I think the USA might be slight favourites in this one. I do think we got the best female player on the planet and she's only 23, Meghan Agosta. She already holds the record for most goals in an Olympics for Canada, most career hat tricks in the Olympics and approaching Wickenheiser's goal record.

I'm guessing the Canadians are favored. (Or should I say favoured?)

They've won most of the recent matchups between these two leading up to this tournament and they are at home.

It'll be interesting to see them finally play against good talent as they really haven't been tested all tournament (combined score for the US and Canada vs their opponents, 86 - 4)

I assume that goes both ways ;)

    Medals for all, either way!

yeah, i've watched the US women just beat the living shit out of every team they've played.

it's a little unfair. they should just have a womens US vs Canada, best of 7 series for the gold and not even invite the other countries to the olympics.

That's unOlympian :P The other countries need the exposure and if they want to play hockey they may as well learn how it's done.

haha, maybe. but i don't think countries like china hang in balance because of their women's ice hockey team. what are those tryouts like? i am really curious. how BAD must you be to get cut from that roster? yikes.

i DEMAND an HBO series on china's women's ice hockey team.

and a quick spell check before i clicked submit... i typed rice hockey team by accident. haha, that would have been funny. :|

    They won yesterday.

and they only lost to Russia 2 - 1.

My feeling is that this gives the girls something to aspire to, gives them exposure ... gotta take their lumps.

Just like men's basketball. Long dominated by the US, now, much less so with some of the world's best coming form other countries.

  • I am usually bored to tears with women's hockey, but I'll watch the gold medal game just because it's for a gold medal.

the americans are ranked #1 ... they have won the last 2 world championships ...

the swedes and finns think canada will win because they are playing the better team game ... apparently, there are some egos on the american team and if they decide they want to be heroes - it could backfire ...

anyways - there is no love lost between these two games ... let's hope the officiating doesn't become a story like in salt lake city ...

That was some of the worst officiating ever...but the women still managed to win.

I've tried watching women's hockey these olympics, but I just cant do it. It doesnt help that a majority of the games are complete blowouts.

I heard that they are prob eliminating womens hockey from the olympics due to the lack of competition.

I heard they'll give it the same amount of leeway they gave softball before it got the boot, which, I think was 4 olympics. This is the 4th for hockey I think ... so ... should be interesting.

Well with our "Lucky Loonie" buried at centre ice, its just a given that the Canadian women will win :D
I wonder if the americans are going to stomp all over our flag in their dressing room again like they did 4yrs ago. Not that we need anymore motivation

Yeah, it sucks for the people who play that sport. But, if theres no competition at all, theres no spot for it at the olympics.

Well it certainly isn't very sportsman like or respectful of another country so I could see it not being true...however, I am pretty sure ANY team would deny it.

Going to be an awesome game. I am going to miss most of the first period...maybe my boss will let me go early
