A little miracle

My son, Aiden Edward (for the record, I did NOT name him, his father did, but we know where the middle name comes from) was born almost 6 weeks early (by emergency c-section) on 2/19/10 at 3:22 pm. He was 4lbs, 4ozs, 19 inches long. We had a condition that is called Fetal Maternal Hemorrhage. Basically, his little heart was pumping all of his blood into my body. It's rare and there is no reason or cause for it to happen. He was severly anemic and required a blood transfusion upon birth. He was also on a ventilator, because even though he was breathing on his own, it wasn't very well. By Saturday morning he was off the ventilator and by Saturday evening he was off oxygen all together.

    It is so fantastic to hear of such lovely little miracles as this one. Congratulations on the birth of your son!
    I love the name (it is my brothers name ..and of course the middle name is awesome too!). I experienced a 'dramatic' entry to the world of my son Oliver and it wasn't till weeks later that the impact of it all hit me.
    I hope you can enjoy and relish your little miracle amongst all the sleep deprivation! They are so precious. Best wishes xxx

    Whiz....he secretly told me he can't wait to meet you either! :)

    I'm still in the hospital...been here since Friday, will be here until Tuesday. Going through my own stuff, I won't get into it and gross anyone out. My feet however look like sausage! Thank goodness they have WiFi and I got my laptop!

    I'm off the feed the little guy.........

    Great story and congrats! I completely believe in miracles. The fact that I'm still alive after my aneurysm ordeal is an example of that.

    and neonatal physicians- my brother in law saves those tiny babies- months early- he is the kindest gentlest human I know

    This kid is freakin amazing!!!! After all of this, I swear he is ready to go home with his mamma tomorrow. He's being weaned off his IV nourishment as he (we I should say) have taken to feedings and ah, things started flowin as they should. He's got a bad ass temper on him and know what he likes and doesn't like.

    Oh man......I'm in for it!

    We have nicknamed him "miracle man".
