So your hatred for the Tea Party is about the timing? When do you think it will be a good time to ask for accountability of our elected officials.....personally the “where were you when Bush was in office” is getting old....why do you assume that the people in the Tea Party were not against that administrations spending and corruption?

why do I assume that the people in the Tea Party weren't against Bush's administration's spending and corruption even though they are Republicans? I'll tell you why. This one person I know of represents perhaps a minority of the Republican Tea Partiers, but its still something. She openly supported Bush to friends and family. remained quiet on some controversial things. openly supported McCain and Palin all throught the campaign. openly hated Obama becoming President. true there is lots of spending--apparantley more than in a long time (so they tell us) --but openly became a tea party supporter when her daughter lost her job to "the economy". true Obama seems to be stubborn about his spending. other than that--that's all I got. I don't wish to know further--I've got my own life to worry about. just saying what I've witnessed. In the almost fifteen years that I've known this woman, her 2 biggest gripes about the gov't revolved around Clinton's administration and now Obama's--a pure Republican through and through. so you tell me--is she the only one out there like that?

"…cult members always attribute all of their problems to one simple explanation. Now here’s an amazing statistic. In a recent poll almost ninety percent of Tea Baggers said that they thought taxes had either gone up or stayed the same under Obama. Only two percent thought they went down. But the reality is taxes have gone down for ninety five percent of working families taxes went down.

Think about that. Only two percent of the people in a "movement" about taxes named after a tax revolt have the slightest idea what’s going on…with taxes.

So, it would be easy to just mock, except that those who fall under the control of cults aren’t necessarily weirdoes, they’re victims. And we shouldn’t forget that these people are our relatives, our neighbors and the folks at the next table in the restaurant. Especially if that restaurant is Hooters and it’s dollar wing Wednesday."

I've heard this one before...and yet....I do not know a single person in my personal life that says their taxes went down. We must all be in the 5% up here in the great state of Maine.

Excuse me, but I find this pretty disingenuous. Sarah Palin get's $100,000 to speak at the Tea Party convention, but the Tea Party is against corruption and profligate government spending?! I know it isn't "corrupt" to pay someone a shit-ton of money to speak at your event, but it seems kind of contradictory to the purported ethos of the movement. Frankly, the whole Tea Party thing seems kind of crazy to me. Most Tea Party people, as far as I can tell, simply parrot these lines about the evils of big government but when push comes to shove they don't really know what they're talking about. Frankly I think this is a phenomenon of people who are scared out of their wits by a crumbling economy and a government response (which I happen to strongly support) that they don't understand, and therefore fear. I actually think this is kinda Obama's fault for letting the story get away from him and not doing a good job of explaining his policies to the country in a manner that everyone could understand.

perhaps they are, although I have never heard you say anything about it nor is there any mention of it on the TP website, just saying.

this is what you think the tea party is. It's pretty much the tea party if it were actually a grass roots movement and not controlled by a bunch of corporate puppeteers.

seriously, check it out, we probably agree on more than you think.

THANK YOU!! This is what I have been trying to put my finger on.

I have super right wing, hard core christian (not that there's anything wrong with that) relatives who pretty much went from "Clinton was bad" (upset more about the blow job, not so much the lying about it or NAFTA) despite that he balanced the budget and built a record surplus. then it was: "Bush Rules" (still waiting for a retraction on that) to "Sarah Palin is Awesome". (Still waiting on that as well). Now suddenly with a democrat in the office it's "everything about our country is wrong, the Government is evil!!" Now it's all about the tea party and taking it back, whatever that means.

    anyone else see a pattern.
