Why the arbitrary period of time?

not arbitary.. its the 30 year anniversary of the Brit Awards.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I'm guessing they just did it to rule out bands like the Beatles, Zeppelin, The Who (any of their top album candidates anyway), Cream, etc. I would think they would've ruled that list if eligible but then again a lot of great, well known albums from the past 30 years were left off the list so maybe they wouldn't have.

    holy guess batman! ;)

its the 30 year anniversary of the Brit Awards... hence the best album of the last 30 years.

Liam apparently threw the award into the crowd. I would call him a douche but I just saw the nominees and yes, what an utter joke. How the hell is Disintigration and Ok Computer not in there. Bloody hell!

XTRMNTR by Primal Scream should have been in there. I think "best crap, overplayed, mainstream album of the last 30 years" was the original title for the award but they had to cut it down because it's a bit of a mouthful for the person who has to announce it.

The rules to make the shortlist were the album had to have won the Brit for Best Album, then the 10 biggest sellers from that list of winners were the nominees.

Think it was then a public vote on that list.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

That would have been my choice to be honest. It got me into rock music and it is seriously a flawless album with some of the biggest anthems you'll hear. I don't get why people diss this band so much. Yea, Liam is a dickhead, but if you get over that the band has some amazing songs and a lot of them are on this. I don't get all the hate. It's a great album. It could be debated whether it's the best in 30 years, but it'd certainly be my choice

  • ah you'll get over it... most Radiohead fans get over it at some point ;)

Now, now! Whilst they did disappear up their own backsides for a bit on late releases, The Bends rocks like a bastard. Exhibit A:

Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
