another blatant bump for my little orphan thread.

    http://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/Gi ... 082635.php

I can't imagine what anyone will offer BW. I'd like to propose $2M base with $100,000 per save. 40 save season = $6M. :?

for sure....you would have to change it. but don't worry....they have always liked the corporate type player. they tried manny and you know how that turned out

they're trying to sign pagan but the fucking braves just set the bar for outfielders at at least $15M per year :x

Personally I think Scutaro got a little short changed.
    6.67 mil/yr vs 10mil/yr
    Not my money either
Good to see them both back.
    Heath Hembree. Next closer.

    scott boras.....what a fucking tool.

Meantime, agent Scott Boras has pitched a closer or two of his own to Giants President Larry Baer. Boras represents Rafael Soriano and Jose Valverde  .

"You really don't have a history there," Boras said of the Giants' closing situation, though he did praise Romo for his effective slider in the postseason and striking out Detroit's Miguel Cabrera on an unexpected fastball, ending the World Series.

"The question is whether they perceive Romo, or these people, really being the closer. You really don't want to be without that person going into this process. ... As I told Larry, 'You better make some right moves. You don't want to be a guy that's not being known as a winner.' "

    valverde = right move? :lol:

You get the feeling the Giants would love to have Brian Wilson back, as long as he understands something: Spring training begins with Sergio Romo as the closer.

Wilson's bold proclamations aside, there's no guarantee he'll be throwing that 95-mph cutter by Opening Day, or by June, for that matter. The Giants would prefer to break him in slowly, then decide on a possible promotion.

Wilson's pride is a bit wounded just now, and that's understandable. Maybe he'd prefer to take a hike and prove the Giants dead wrong. Say, for instance, there's mutual interest between Wilson and a club willing to promise him the closer's job if he's ready by April. Wouldn't the Detroit Tigers be a good fit?

The Tigers had everything they needed to win last year's World Series except pixie dust (strictly the Giants' property) and short relief. They were down to left-hander Phil Coke by the time it ended, a sad state of affairs after Jose Valverde's dreadful collapse. That team is loaded, adding right fielder Torii Hunter to an already strong lineup, and looks to be the class of its division once again.

One bit of advice to Wilson if he switches teams: Shave the beard. This is no small issue when you're trying to impress a new manager (think the Tigers' Jim Leyland), the skeptical media and a demanding fan base.

If Wilson isn't a dominant pitcher right out of the gate, that look isn't cool, or funny, or in any way appropriate. The prevailing mood becomes, "Who needs this clown, anyway?" And he doesn't need that.

Besides, I can't quite remember what the guy looks like.
