deja vu all over again. I've tried to defend Sabean for years, but the makeup of this offense is pathetic.

2 weeks in first and a free fall from here.

Exactly! I was thinking this last night. Our pitching is the best in baseball but we need to score at least 2 runs to win some of these games. Hopefully Wellemeyer can pull his head out of his ass today and the Giants can get a WIN!!! Then we can get our asses home and whoop up on some St. Louis :D

It ain't good when we have to wait for our ace to stop a skid...........but I'll take it  .

I see DeRosa is back. Maybe the boys can get back to winning.

I saw Fred Lewis in a Blue Jays highlight the other night  .

  • I was reading an article talking about how DeRosa was the glue of this team. Might make sense seeing how we lost 4 in a row without him.

Big game tonight with Zito facing Wainwright, but I think we got it! :D

I just meant he has never, in his Giants career, gotten any run support. it's gotta be getting to him. :lolno:

Same old story, they really need a hitter.

They allowed only 3 runs to St Louis all weekend long, they should be able to win all 3 games.

In the bottom third of the league again in runs and homeruns.

I know they want him to develop more at catcher, but, they can't find a spot in the lineup for Posey's bat?

He has nothing left to prove against AAA pitching (hitting .353 so far this year).

I know, this is a bit drastic, but damn ... seems their pitching staff, if Zito is for real, could carry them to a NL West title with another hitter or two.

I hate to say it this early, but Huff is garbage. He isn't the clean up hitter the Giants need.

Which is why I'm curious why the Giants didn't go out and get a huge bat in the offseason. Derosa and Huff are both guys who compliment big hitters. What are they waiting for?

There are only a couple of what I'd consider "huge" bats out there. A steroid policy (even a sham one) will do that ;) . Horror of horrors, it wouldn't surprise me if Kent, Aurilia, Burks, Snow, etc., etc. all got some "assistance" at one time or another. Our last 100%, no doubt clean bat? Will the Thrill.

Howard is a huge bat...did you see what he signed for today? Bay, Texiera, Holliday? None of them are huge bats, IMHO.....but they got paid as if they were. Adrian Gonzales? Now there's a guy I could get behind!

edit: that said, our minor league teams have not exactly been a pipeline of "bats"....partly due to sabean's penchant for arms.

    Whoa, wait a minute ....

Bay and post Coors Field-Holliday ... ok, they seem more like guys that support a teams superstar hitter on top clubs. Great bats, but not necessarily anchors on championship teams.

But Teixeira? Are you kidding me? He's a huge bat, a very ... huge ... fucking ... bat.

    His last 6 years ...

    .281 38 - 112
    .301 43 - 144
    .282 33 - 110
    .306 30 - 105 (132 games)
    .308 33 - 121
    .292 39 - 122

As for Adrian Gonzalez ... no way the Padres trade him within the division. The baseball fan in me hopes he stays in San Diego somehow. If not, he'd look real nice in a Red Sox uni!

I don't think he'd be a difference maker at all on the Giants....he never played under pressure in TX; he's played in two homer happy ballparks; he's never hit a walk-off.........he'd get maybe 20-25 HR in SF.

I was just having this conversation....we've got no bats but Sabean didn't put together a ballclub that can play small ball, either. Molina, Huff, Panda, Renteria? :wtf:

You are wildly underselling Teixeria, and as a Red Sox fan, it PAINS me to say that.

None the less ... we'll never know, it doesn't matter ... so, we'll move on.
