Way to give the Black Keys some props on your list. They always seem to get maligned as a "white stripes ripoff band." They're so powerful and underrated in my opinion, not top mention a great modern update on the blues.

Straight up! I'm hitting your city to see them on 4/11 at First Ave! Actually I'll be there next weekend for The Hives too!

Mitch Hedberg deserves his own thread, but here are his two performances on Letterman. Greatest stand up comedian ever:

interesting that the worlds greatest comedian himself gives props to a "vastly overrated " musician such as Bruce Springsteen.

    ;)

yeah, i know its because Mitchs' last appearance on Letterman coincided with a Bruce and E Street reunion performnance ( not positive on the exact date but 8-02-02 is what im thinking ) ,....and the crowd was still " Brooooooooocing" up until Mitch walked out.

i still say this is worthy of a choice on your list---- Pearl Jams Grievance from 4-13-2000.

    :)

  • Thank you for the Mitch Hedberg, YouTube clips. I was laughing until I found out that he was gone from us too soon by the fucked-up bliss of speedballing. "His routines featured elocutive but often short, sometimes one-line, observational comedy, mixed with absurd and paraprosdokian elements as well as non sequiturs" - love the description of his comedy style.
Everyone is born, but not everyone is born the same. Some will grow to be butchers, or bakers, or candlestick makers. Some will only be really good at making Jell-O salad. One way or another, though, every human being is unique, for better or for worse.

Thanks, I always wondered what the story was behind that comment.

Just for you, I'll give Bruce another try this week. Where do you recomend I start? I like his older stuff much more than the newer.

Cool thread. Just can't get into Radiohead though and that performance seemed awfully pedestrian.

I wish I could find them doing this on Conan. Jesse went into the crowd and started grinding with the "cougars" in the crowd, it was hilarious :D
