The Dead Weather and Jeff Beck! I'd go just for those two!

    Jeff Beck is God
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

It may not be top heavy, but there are plenty of great bands to see. The Black Keys are one of the best bands playing today, IMO.

screw the FF, add TCV and thats a boner in spandex. TCV is much more likely than the Foos anyways

This lineup looks good to me... hell, I don't even hate Dave Matthews like so many others around here. ;) But I'm not going to Bonnaroo so it doesn't matter anyway.

I would love to know how much they are charging for the all access tickets.

Camping, Kings of Leon and Dave Matthews sounds good.
For anyone that's been there before. Can you get up close with general admission or is it only for VIP?
Regular ticket gets you up front in the Pit

  • What a crap-fest this is gonna be...Flaming Lips and Jeff Beck are really the only highlights. Nice to see the Murphys spreading their seed across the southland. She & Him, Dead Weather and Calexico are not bad as well.

Point is, who would want to shell out a bunch of money to spend a weekend in the summer in Tennessee, in the mud and mosquitoes to hear "Two Step". Then get in your car and drive for 18 hours to get home...not me.

If I lived in Manchester, Tennessee I probably wouldn't even go this year. You can tell it's gone down the drain when My Morning Jacket is declining. They helped make it big.

No, you don't need VIP tickets to get up close to any stage. VIP basically offers you a better camping area that is close to and has quicker access to the main festival grounds. Frankly, having seen the conditions of the general camping area, I wouldn't go again unless I had VIP tix.

But VIP tix are a lot more expensive than when I went 2 years ago! I don't know if I'll ever go again. There are festivals that are closer to where I live, and I'm planning on going to a few of those. They're not huge fests, but that's actually part of the appeal too. Bonnaroo 2008 had an amazing lineup and I'm glad I went that year, but that might be it for me.

the pit area is cleared out after each act.

vip gets you bleachers to the side of the stage as well as closer camping and better facilities (showers), but is very expensisve

if you've never been to a massive campling festival, you should try and do it once. but do it in your 20's
81 is now off the air

You still going this year Dan?
  • I really think this is the weakest lineup for the 'roo in years but I would prolly go just to see kol I believe that's gonna be an epic set, plus black keys, and hopefully them crooked vultures and drive by truckers get announced soon, but yeah, overall pretty weak lineup

they are missing a solid headliner...dmb sucks imo and he tours every five seconds so bonnaroo isn't really gonna pull me in with him. they add 2 headliners with serious reps and i'll consider.

I agree with you totally. But DMB has a shit ton of followers. Roo wont miss not having you and I there. 8-)
  • I personally love the lineup.

I went in 2008 for Pearl Jam (2nd best Pearl Jam show i've ever seen, right behind 10/30/09), and have since become kind of a festival whore... did Starscape, Rothbury & Camp Bisco last year, and looking foward to getting back to the farm in TN this year.

DMB, Bisco, Flaming Lips, Lotus, Kings Of Leon (who I dont like as much as I used to, but will still be a fun show), Jay-Z (incredible live, i've seen him twice), Dead Weather, Fogerty, LCD Soundsystem, Les Fucking Claypool!!, Deadmau5, & Isis all make me very happy with this lineup.. also, there are many bands I dont know, which is awesome because i'm sure i'll discover at least 1 new favorite band (I found the DIsco Biscuits at Roo 08, and they have since become one of my favorite bands).

Gonna be such an incredibile weekend. I hope the people all over the internet who are hating (not this board, mostly the PT boards) actually do stay home.. more dancin' room for me!
under your tongue, im like a tab.. i will give you what your not supposed to have

in wide open spaces we sing, with strings.. launch a full on musical cannonball.. guided by bells that we bring, they ring.. sound for the sky and the sun, our own waterfall...
