Dave A. is the best PJ drummer ever.

I was just watching VH1's best week ever, and they mentioned that the lead singer for Nickleback did an interview with Playboy, and told the magazine he used to...um..."pleasure himself": http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article896767.ece

I wanted to confirm the accuracy of said outlandish claim--and I discovered on Wikipedia that Matt Cameron performed with him, and fellow douche bag lead singer from Saliva, for a song on the Spiderman soundtrack: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Kroeger

Why have I never heard this? How is this acceptable?

Yea, but Cameron laid down drum tracks for Our Lady Peace. So in the end, it balances out.

Remind us again how this balances anything out? Sounds like it digs Cameron's grave just a little bit deeper.

OH now I see why he's the best. Because he's the current drummer. I get it now.

I guess that George Bush is the best president since he's the current one.

dave a is fat and over weight now

matt cameron also did drum tracks for smashing pumpkins and drummed for the entire solo album by geddy lee, you know, the singer from rush, the band with neil peart, regarded as one of the best drummers in rock, and matt played on it, thats awesome, and yes i realize this is one big run-on sentance.

if you dont like matt cameron i i don't understand you. he has more energy than any other drummer they had.

Sorry man. I'm with the other guy. Our Lady Peace is just another nail in the Matt Cameron coffin.

I actually like Matt Cameron's drumming just fine, same with Dave A, and Irons--I'm not drumming savvy enough to hear a huge difference.

However, drumming for the Nickleback-Saliva-Our Lady Peace douchebag trifecta, is inexcusable.

Lord help me if he starts collaborating with the Jonas Brothers soon.

OLP's first two album's are AWESOME. Other than that, they're hit or miss for me. It's definitely about a million steps up from Nickelback.

  • i don't get why people don't like matt. if i am not mistaken he was the drummer on the demos, and he has been with the band the longest. and he kicks fucking ass.

Yeah, it just feels natural with Matt. It seems like he's been with them since the beginning. The rest of the drummers, in retrospect, just didn't seem like they belong in Pearl Jam. Matt was their first choice if I'm not mistaken.
  • Dave A is a classical trained Jazz drummer it seemed with him there was more popper beats and snappy and he hot real hard it was more energetic thank Matt but on the other hand Matt is a machine of technical brilliance therefore its down to what you prefer, for me its Dave A because of the raw energy and them snappy beats he brought
Speaking as a child of the 90's
  • Dave A was perfect for his time with the band. He was an absolute fucking rock machine, which was great for the bands early days. Jack Irons kicked ass too. And Matt Cameron is a god. They all kicked ass really and the fact that the band changed witht he drummers is a testament to how good they really are.
Truth be told, I like the Dave A shows more right now just beacause I'm into the harder stuff at this point.
By the way, anybody who says Matt can't rock the hard stuff needs to listen to Louder than Love. He fuckin wails on every song on that album.

I agree. OLP rocks! Great to hear some support from our Southern neighbours. Live show is like a Pearl Jam show, except not as good and everyone including the band is a little more stoned. Raine's solo album is pretty cool too. Trying listening to it right after Into the Wild. Do you remember which tracks Matt played on? I know Jeremy (Taggart) was walking his dog at like three in the morning, got mugged, and hurt his leg. Pearl Jam happened to be in the area (October 2000) and Matt layed downed tracks for four songs. Awesome of him to do that. Wasn't Jeremy considered as a replacement when Jack left?

This makes sense to me--it does seem like Dave A. had a unique syncopation.

Jack Irons played the bass drum into the ground to the point it got hard to listen.

Matt is the best, by far. His fills are fantastic, and keeps a great tempo.

and yes, i love jack because no code and yield are my two favorite albums of all time. their songwriting and creativity were at their best with jack, and the shows from that era were unreal.

  • Matt played on other people's albums! How lame is that? It's called being a "session drummer". Lots of drummers (some of the best) have done it. It doesn't mean they're making some kind of profund collaboration. So stop being douchebags.
