You got a better number than I do, so let's go PJ at the halftime show next year.
Thanks for stopping by San Diego. You stay classy.

There. Said it. After watching The Who just do what they did, I really hope PJ never steps foot on that stage.
Thanks
But you kept you're 10C membership after they signed a deal with a major retail organization? To me that is worse than playing a 15 min show at the SB.

I know I know....I am just saying. I don't even know what songs they would play. The fireworks, the "fans" singing uuurrrghh.

It would be great if they played these 4 songs:
Comatose
Sad
Sleight of Hand
Lukin
And watch 70,000 fans scratch they're head in unison.
I'm sorry... but the Who sucked at their Superbowl performance because the Who sucks at this point in time. Between Daltrey and Townshend both having pretty horrendous voices, and the absence of Keith Moon and John Entwistle, they can't perform. And it's pretty absurd to me to blame that on the venue in my opinion.

I know some people think they suck because they are older and Keith and John are gone, but I have been a long time Who fan and love to still see them rocking, even if they are "different" now. I took my daughter to see The Who a few years ago and my son (who is 13) is looking forward to seeing them with me, hopefully soon! No, Roger can't scream like he used to, but I don't care! Just like with Pearl Jam, where ever they go, I'll be there!

I saw them in '06, I believe, while they were touring for Endless Wire... and I just found it lacked the energy that their music once held.

Hey Benjs,
I saw them during that tour also, at the Wachovia Center, Philly. I know what you mean, and maybe it's more of a sentimental thing for me, I've seen them a number of times going back to their first farewell tour in 1982. We had to sleep on a sidewalk outside the mall overnight to get tickets. And I saw them at Live Aid in 1985.
Even though they are not the same, I am grateful to be able to still take my kids to see these living legends. But I can relate to you not feeling the same energy that they used to have! For me, I can supply that from my memory!

Fair enough! The truth is... I'm such a nostalgic person (on Love, the Beatles album, at the end when they've got John Lennon saying 'good night to yous all', I choke up every time - though I was born in '90), that had I seen the Who when they were all alive, I would have that same connection. As it is, I remember a Tommy medley from the Air Canada Center show in Toronto I attended, and the energy was there, briefly, during that medley... at that oh-so-epic "See me.... Feeeeeeee-ee-eel me.... touch me.... heaal me-ee-ee". I've always loved that

It warms my heart to know you feel that way! Yes, that song is great. Didn't Eddie cover it at the VH1 Rock Honors? I love hearing PJ cover the Who, they bring the passion!
My daughter was born in 1989 and she loves The Who and rocked out with me! I saw younger fans who didn't know the songs and weren't having as much fun. But I have to tell you my story about the '06 show at the Wachovia Center: My daughter and I were going to our seats, early, about an hour before the opening act and we were in the top most row! I could just about reach up and touch the ceiling! Then some guy came up to us and asked if we would like to sit on the floor! He said they needed to fill it! I asked him for his I.D. to be sure and it was real! He upgraded our seats and we were on the floor right next to the sound board, and ,best of all was that we could see, even that far back. And I am short! We had the best time!
Thanks for listening..........
You joined 3 years before me! Seriously though, come on, you wouldn't give up on the boys if they played this thing.
You're not going by the "Joined" line under his avatar, are you? That's not 10c join date (mine says 2003, but I've been in 10c since 2000 or 2001). And in 2003, you didn't need to be in the 10c to join this forum either (my wife was a member of the forum but never in the 10c).
Back on topic... Who was old. Poor Who. I don't want to see PJ at the SB b/c every SB half time show I've watched has either been some sort of pop puke or geezer rockers that are pretty washed up and pussified, IMHO. *shrugs* Just say "No" to football's big game, Pearl Jam!

hahahahahahahahaha I LOVE The Headstones. I keep forgetting there are other Canadians on here. You have to admit it sorta does look like Bono hahaha
sorry man, my goof.
Pearl Jam should not ever play the Superbowl because it is always a greatest hits show of greatest hits show and their material alive - evenflow- jeremy - daughter - corduroy - and so forth just would not translate the many millions who watch the superbowl
Did you think they would take the stage at the superbowl and play InMyTree and GTF and Unthought Known - it would be great for "US" but not so much for "THEM" -
Just imagine all the nonsense that would go on here talking about what they did and did not play - Holycow there would be no pleasing anyone in that case

fuck the Superbowl...i'd say PJ doing somthing like that would be the straw that broke the camal's back for me...one of the reasons i fell in love with this band, aside from the music, was their anti-corporate/anti-war ideology and patriotism.

Are PJ anywhere near popular enough to play a Super Bowl halftime show alone? You need something really, really commercial (that's why the Who was a poor choice IMO) to make it appeal to the largest mass audience in the world. Unless it is Brtiney or U2 one artist can't give you that mass appeal. But here is a thought on a different direction that can involve PJ.
Now if they took 3 or 4 90's era bands and had them each play a massive hit of there's you could get people into the show. Maybe Live plays 'Lightning Crashes', PJ plays 'Betterman', DMB plays 'Crash in to me' and the Chillis play 'Give it away'.
things change people change they aren't going to stay the same "angst anti everything" band as they grow and mature
We all change- I love where they are and support whomever they grow to be cause its all about the music that speaks to me.
