32 bit can handle up to 3 gigs of RAM

64 bit can handle up to 8 gigs of RAM

the more RAM you have the more multitasking you can do.

I wish I knew. I just spent over 2 hours on the phone with Dell tech support, who agreed that my relatvely new computer probably sucks giant monkey balls because of Vista but still said I'd have to pay to upgrade to 7.

Yeah I have 7 and the 64 bit too.....my new lappy has a 5gb hdd so pretty stoked with that considering it was under $900. Having fun with it, although the norton that came with the package didn't seem to agree with with it all the time, so have changed that now. But otherwise ....pig in mud here!!! :D
  • PC's are more practical for business but when compared to a Mac, Mac donkey stomps it. I have a MacBook Pro and it's the greatest machine I've ever owned. There's no dispute. People who hate on Mac haven't stepped their ass out in that price range and joined the family. It doesn't make you cool. It just means you prefer quality and less hassle plus the hardware is far superior.

The thing that I have found/like is that my Mac is still running just as well as the day I bought it, the speed is still there, I do not have to run a bunch of maintenance to get my computer close to where I hope it's to be, when I took my mac out of the box I didn't have to waste my time deleting a bunch of trial software, mac still gives you physical dvd's if you have to restore your computer, I like the looks of them, all the software that I need is generally shipped with the computer a lots of free or inexpensive software out there and my favorite is Apple's customer service, just the best, when I switched from PC to Mac they were only to happy to answer any questions I had.

But is it a huge improvement over XP? I hate Vista, but don't mind XP. Haven't tried 7; I'm waiting 'till I can get it for free somewhere.

I think the customer service is going to push me over the edge to becoming a Mac owner as well. Dell's customer service is infuriating!

My Imac 3 years, my wife's laptop 4 years, both are running perfectly. My previous Mac I had for 3 years and now my sister has it, so it's six years old and run perfectly. Maybe I've been lucky, I dunno, but I didn't get this lucky with the PC's I owned.

I really like their customer service, always been helpful. The last PC I owned was an HP and when I first got it, sometimes it would not boot, sometimes it would, called HP, "they told me it was a Windows problem", gave me the number to Microsoft, microsoft wanted to charge me a fee, ended just reinstalling everything, with DVD's that I had to make myself. So that was it for me with PC's, took my sister's advice and went Mac, been happy ever since.

That's what's happening to me right now with Dell! Except they didn't even give me the # to Microsoft; they just told me I need to pay them more money to upgrade to Windows 7. I said it's their problem for selling me a computer that doesn't work properly, whether or not it's Windows that's causing the issue, so they should be responsible for fixing it. But of course the guy is just reading from his script and can't do anything. And we have a hard enough time understanding each other with the language barrier so there's no point in trying to argue further.

I just don't get why any discussion about computers on this board or anywhere results in some really stupid argument about PC vs. Mac. I mean, who the fuck cares? I can understand if you work for Microsoft or Apple, or if you had a lot of stock in either one, but who the fuck really cares?

I mean, you can have a post....

    "Good Virus Protection Software?"
-Some guy has a legitimate question about virus software and is seeking advice. What he's NOT seeking is some assface posting "Oh, you should have just got a Mac..."

    Or a post...

"Who's excited about the new Macbook Pro?"
-Again, a legit conversation about a new product. You get another assface going on and on about how Mac people are all douchebags who only have them to be cool, etc.
    Again...contributing nothing.

    It's really pathetic.

    I totally agree with this.

In related news, I had my MacBook Pro set up beside my desktop (which runs Microsoft software). I went to use the restroom and when I came back, my Mac had pulled it's aluminum unibody cock out and was face fucking my PC. It was the goddamdest thing I'd ever seen.

In all seriousness, both OS's have a functional purpose. PC's are clearly better for most forms of work related stuff. For example, they don't even make appraisal software for Macs so I can't make a single dollar with it. On the other hand, I can download porn with impunity on my Mac and it also works seamlessly with my iPod and iPhone....as it should since it's an Apple product. Being a customer of both worlds, it has been my experience that Apple makes a superior product in regards to quality. It's like music. It's all just preference.

While I agree with your point, I'd just like to say that I care to hear the PC vs. Mac argument. Maybe there should just be another thread about it.
