Fox news had nothing to do with it. It was started by an attorney who's name is Philip J. Berg, Esquire. Who is actually a democrat. Lou Dobbs on the other hand from CNN talked about a lot and he did believe it to be true at first.

    Get your facts straight...

fox news reported on it A LOT. there were several articles from fox's website posted on here, as well as several fringe blogs that had fox news logos on the page as sponsors...you get your facts straight as well.

Yeah but you said ,"fox made it up". the fact is they didn't. As usual though you choose to ignore the facts.

    he said:
"made up one from fox news and those on the extreme right." (had to take out his quote to post it, just scroll up)

he did say AND, obviously 1 person had the idea first. they helped push it, didn't they? the highest rated cable news network? let's not use semantics to ignore that

just as he said in his 2nd reply, they reported it A LOT, the highest rated cable news network helped promote the idea, just like they did with death panels and the lie that kerry said he should be president because more foreign leaders like him...

regardless, i think saying fox news made it up is still valid even though they didn't have the idea first.

i guess i shouldn't be surprised this is all that is addressed but:

    Main Entry: made–up
    Pronunciation: \ˈmād-ˈəp\
    Function: adjective
    Date: 1607

    1 : fully manufactured
2 : marked by the use of makeup
3 : fancifully conceived or falsely devised

MSNBC and CNN reprted the story also. So how do you know they didn't make it up.

Dude ... Get it through your head FOX DIDN'T MAKE UP THE STORY.  Nor did any other cable news outlet.. :wtf: I don't know why I even waste my time on here .I feel like Im talking to a brick wall most of the time when I post here.

For what it's worth I personally detest Obama and his agenda, but that doesn't mean I think that he's not a U.S. CITIZEN.

    Campaigners and proponents

A John McCain supporter questioning the legitimacy of Obama's birth certificate
Notable advocates of the view that Obama may not be eligible for the Presidency include Philip J. Berg, a Pennsylvania attorney and 9/11 conspiracy theorist;[63] Berg describes himself as a "moderate to liberal" Democrat who backed Hillary Clinton for president.[64] Another notable advocate is Alan Keyes, who was defeated by Obama in the 2004 Illinois US Senate election, served as a diplomat in the Reagan administration, and is currently a media personality and self described "conservative political activist."[65][66] Other notable advocates include Andy Martin, a perennial candidate who was "widely credited with starting the cyberwhisper campaign" that Obama is a secret Muslim,[67] and Robert L. Schulz, a tax protester and activist who placed full-page advertisements in the Chicago Tribune in December 2008 arguing that Obama had been born in Kenya or had subsequently renounced U.S. citizenship.[68] The Constitution Party, a dominionist third party, is also campaigning for release of Obama's original long-form certificate.[69]
The website AmericaMustKnow.com encouraged visitors to lobby members of the Electoral College to vote against Obama's confirmation as President and become faithless electors.[2] Electors around the country received numerous letters and e-mails contending that Obama's birth certificate is a forgery and that he was born in Kenya, and requesting that Obama be denied the presidency.[70] Some of the online campaigners coordinated their efforts with weekly conference calls, in which they discussed the latest news and how to advance the story.[71]
The campaign has also been supported by the WorldNetDaily (WND) website, which sponsored a letter-writing campaign to the Supreme Court.[2] WND's publisher Joseph Farah has written a number of editorials arguing that Obama's eligibility needs to be confirmed.[72] WND has mounted an advertising campaign, using electronic billboards to ask "Where's The Birth Certificate?"[46] The talk radio hosts Michael Savage, Brian Sussman, Lars Larson, Bob Grant, Jim Quinn, Rose Tennent, Barbara Simpson, and Mark Davis have all promoted the eligibility claims on their radio shows. Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs have also broached the issue several times on their shows.[73] Savage has asserted: "We're getting ready for the Communist takeover of America with a noncitizen at the helm."[71]
The anti-Obama campaigners have not, however, been unanimous in their approach. For example, WorldNetDaily has been critical of Philip Berg's forgery claims, saying that a "WND investigation into Obama's [short form] birth certificate utilizing forgery experts ... found the document to be authentic."[74] At the same time, WND has been urging Obama to release his original long-form certificate, and WND contends that "Hawaii at the time of Obama's birth allowed births that took place in foreign countries to be registered in Hawaii"[75] (WND does not address the fact that the certification of live birth lists Obama's birthplace as Honolulu, which would not be the case for a child of foreign birth registered in Hawaii); and a subsequent WND article seemed to backtrack on the earlier one, saying of the experts it had quoted earlier that "None of them could report conclusively that the electronic image was authentic or that it was a forgery."[76] This apparent reversal prompted MSNBC's Keith Olbermann to declare WND's Joseph Farah to be his "Worst Person in the World" for January 5, 2009.[77] Farah asserted in July 2009 that "I have never challenged the certification of live birth as a forgery."[citation needed]
According to Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center, "the birther movement has gained a large following on the radical right... it has been adopted by the most noxious elements out there." Some of those "noxious elements" include a number of avowed white-supremacist and neo-Nazi groups.[78] [79] James von Brunn, an avowed white supremacist charged as the gunman in the June 10, 2009 United States Holocaust Memorial Museum shooting, had previously posted messages to the Internet accusing Obama and the media of hiding documents about his life.[80] [81] Ben Smith of The Politico commented: "The penetration of the birther mythology into the violent fringe has to be a worry for the Secret Service, because at its heart, it's about denying Obama's legitimacy to hold the office of president."[80]

HELLO, MCFLY!! NOBODY IS SAYING FOX MADE IT UP! their "fair and balanced" reporting fanned the flames and kept the story in the news cycle while the other networks tried to downplay the story. you are not going to win this argument because there are too many people on here that remember that story and remember how it was portrayed in different areas of the media.

we know you despise obama, but the question i have for you point blank is are you a birther?

i dont use talking points. i speak from my mind and heart, i do not need to be told what to say to make my points.

i thought it has already been established that the higher the ratings does not correlate with the level of truth or fact....and arguing that high ratings equals better programming is ludicrous, case in point, jersey shore, and beck's tv show....

Why do you like always assume things. I watch Fox News just to see how outlandish they tend to report what they consider news and IF they broadcast like they say *Fair and Balanced*. I couldn't care less about ratings but it is obvious that you care based on how many times you've stated that here. If that gives you a thrill then please continue to update and let us know, daily if you like. :D

There's NOT a damn thing can be done about Obama's citizenship at this point. There's more important things to deal with like who will this damn game. :D

  Whatever you say dude . I doubt any of you even watch fox. You probably get your talking points from media doesn't matters or MSNBC.Foxes ratings dominate all the others and it just drives all you leftist crazy. Ha Ha.... But, honestly I could care less. We got more important things to worry about.

actually i watch fox op/ed far more than i watch any other network. i rarely watch cnn and rarely watch msnbc, fox op/ed is entertaining, though.

and during the '04 election even AFTER it came out that Kerry NEVER said he should be elected because more foreign leaders liked him that didn't stop Fox & Friends from saying he did every day all the way to the election
    don't compete; coexist

what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama

when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'
  • Of course Fox News is the most-watched news network on TV - rule #2 of media (right after rule #1, which is Know Your Audience) is that by appealing to the least-educated third of a populace you'll get better numbers. Don't ask people to think, and they'll love you for it. That's why "If it bleeds, it leads" works on the nightly news - people want to see a gory car crash and revel in it more than they want to see an academic discuss the effectiveness of seatbelt laws in a thoughtful manner. That's also why action movies make more money than thoughtful intelligent ones - more people want to see explosions and hot chicks in bikinis than want to be asked to think about an issue.

If you want to argue that Fox viewership is intelligent, I'll grant you that a percentage of their viewers probably are extremely well-educated thoughtful people. That being said, it's a network that panders to the right (in the same way MSNBC panders to the left), a political persuasion who, according to Research 2000, believe Obama isn't an American (36%, with a further 22% unsure), thinks Obama dislikes white people (64%), opposes same-sex marriage (93%), think Obama should be impeached (39%), want their state to secede from the union (23%, but 33% in the Pearl Jam-ignored South, where 70% of Arkansans fail AP exams), believe Obama wants the terrorists to win (24%, with another 33% unsure), think that gay people shouldn't be allowed to teach in public schools (73%, despite the fact that Reagan himself opposed a measure trying to do that 30 years ago).

I'm not saying CNN is for geniuses (as anyone who saw Wolf Blitzer on Jeopardy can attest, since he was HORRIBLE), but a large chunk of Fox's viewership is dumber than a box of rocks. Proving, once again, that if you appeal to the lowest common denominator, you'll get more viewers.

Note 1: also proof that a lot of the less-than-intelligent section of the Republican Party is out-of-touch with reality: the number of people who paid $500 a head to watch Sarah Palin - who was allegedly paid a $100,000 appearance fee - complain about the government overspending, while reading notes written on her hand.

Note 2: It kills me to watch people who refuse to say anything bad about Bush criticize Obama - he's at the bottom of a huge hole trying to dig his way out, and while he may not be going about it the right way (only time will tell), they still refuse to say anything bad about the guy who dug the hole in the first place. Anyone who criticizes Obama but refuses to criticize Bush has zero credibility IMO.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

    lol...
    be afraid. be very afraid...

there's people around here who are gonna straight-up murder your ass for that.

i get my 'news' from many different outlets. i have, and do tune into fox to see how 'fair and balanced' they are pretending to be. it should also go without saying that i'm in the "percentage of their viewers who probably are extremely well-educated thoughtful people".

    that is all. for now.
