Recently, the U.S. Congress passed a law requiring federal contractors to verify the employment eligibility of its domestic employees.

This initiative is entitled “E-Verify” and is a joint effort between the Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration. U.S. employees will be required to provide proof of identity and employment authorization to validate employment eligibility through a government E-Verify system.

What does this mean for employees?

Beginning in late February, employment eligibility of employees at all of its U.S.-based locations. Under the law, all employees hired or rehired after Nov. 6, 1986 will be re-verified.

What you need to do:

You will be required to fill out a new I-9 form and provide proof of your identity and employment verification documentation. E-Verify clinics will be set up at each site so that identification and employment eligibility can be confirmed.

You will need to bring in an unexpired, acceptable document that provides proof of identity and eligibility to work in the U.S., such as a U.S. passport. Or you can bring in a combination of unexpired documents that establish identity and employment eligibility, such as your driver’s license and Social Security card. Each acceptable document must be an original; copies will not be accepted

what about our president and the controversy over his citizenship ? is he exempt from this ?

the only controversy about obama's citizinship is the made up one from fox news and those on the extreme right. also, he is not a construction worker nor does he work for a contractor so this would not apply to him anyway.

  • Since Obama is an American, I'd say there's no problem there.

Think about it seriously for a minute - if he REALLY wasn't an American, do you think there's any way he could ever get elected president? In this era where people are paid well specifically because they're good at finding out scandalous pieces of information about people, you can bet the Republicans had people working overtime to find out if he really was born in Africa. If they had've found anything legit, he would've been kicked out of the race.

But... they didn't find anything legit. All you got were rumors that were swallowed up by the people who are so anti-Democrat that they'd believe anything negative said about them, no matter how ridiculous it is (exhibit A: Death Panels). These people were asked to believe that the entire thing was a fraud perpetrated by his parents when he was born, as if his mother was lying in the hospital bed after giving birth to him thinking "Shit, he might run for POTUS one day, I need to forge some documents!"

Didn't happen, man. Despite the fact that he has Kenyan heritage and has a Muslim name, he's an American, and he's the boss.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

you are the only one questioning obama's citizenship right now on this forum. this is not reported in the mainstream media because there is no controversy. there are a bunch of quacks out there and right wing extremists making outrageous claims to the contrary trying to undermine the man, but whether you like it or not the man is your president, get over it..

Fox news had nothing to do with it. It was started by an attorney who's name is Philip J. Berg, Esquire. Who is actually a democrat. Fox News reported on the story a few times ,but NO ONE not even Beck  believed it was true. Lou Dobbs on the other hand from CNN talked about a lot and he did believe it to be true at first.

    lol.

Philip Berg is a complete and utter nut job who has mastered the art of manufacturing false claims to stay in the news and to keep soliciting money. he has got rich off of naive people who donated money to him via obamacrimes.com. he conned them into believing he had so much evidence against Obama, that he had convinced the Supreme Court to order Obama produce his birth certificate. It turned out no such order existed.

    as for Fox. hmm.

so what's the story here then, because back in August 2008, the Obama campaign released a copy of his birth certificate. they made a copy available on the campaigns fight the smears site. they also gave the original certificate to FactCheck and they confirmed it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship.

if you think Fox didn't believe it was true, why on earth in May 2009 (9 months later) would they run a massive front page story on The Fox Nation with headlines '' Should Obama Release Birth Certificate? Or Is This Old News?"

maybe you're right and they didn't believe it. if that's the case, then it's another example of them thinking a lot of their readers/viewers are completely stupid.

why else would they run the story all those months later? you think they forgot the rumours had already been proven to be incorrect?

    he said:
"made up one from fox news and those on the extreme right." (had to take out his quote to post it, just scroll up)

he did say AND, obviously 1 person had the idea first. they helped push it, didn't they? the highest rated cable news network? let's not use semantics to ignore that

just as he said in his 2nd reply, they reported it A LOT, the highest rated cable news network helped promote the idea, just like they did with death panels and the lie that kerry said he should be president because more foreign leaders like him...

regardless, i think saying fox news made it up is still valid even though they didn't have the idea first.

i guess i shouldn't be surprised this is all that is addressed but:

    Main Entry: made–up
    Pronunciation: \ˈmād-ˈəp\
    Function: adjective
    Date: 1607

    1 : fully manufactured
2 : marked by the use of makeup

For what it's worth I personally detest Obama and his agenda, but that doesn't mean I think that he's not a U.S. CITIZEN.

    Campaigners and proponents

A John McCain supporter questioning the legitimacy of Obama's birth certificate
Notable advocates of the view that Obama may not be eligible for the Presidency include Philip J. Berg, a Pennsylvania attorney and 9/11 conspiracy theorist;[63] Berg describes himself as a "moderate to liberal" Democrat who backed Hillary Clinton for president.[64] Another notable advocate is Alan Keyes, who was defeated by Obama in the 2004 Illinois US Senate election, served as a diplomat in the Reagan administration, and is currently a media personality and self described "conservative political activist."[65][66] Other notable advocates include Andy Martin, a perennial candidate who was "widely credited with starting the cyberwhisper campaign" that Obama is a secret Muslim,[67] and Robert L. Schulz, a tax protester and activist who placed full-page advertisements in the Chicago Tribune in December 2008 arguing that Obama had been born in Kenya or had subsequently renounced U.S. citizenship.[68] The Constitution Party, a dominionist third party, is also campaigning for release of Obama's original long-form certificate.[69]
The website AmericaMustKnow.com encouraged visitors to lobby members of the Electoral College to vote against Obama's confirmation as President and become faithless electors.[2] Electors around the country received numerous letters and e-mails contending that Obama's birth certificate is a forgery and that he was born in Kenya, and requesting that Obama be denied the presidency.[70] Some of the online campaigners coordinated their efforts with weekly conference calls, in which they discussed the latest news and how to advance the story.[71]
The campaign has also been supported by the WorldNetDaily (WND) website, which sponsored a letter-writing campaign to the Supreme Court.[2] WND's publisher Joseph Farah has written a number of editorials arguing that Obama's eligibility needs to be confirmed.[72] WND has mounted an advertising campaign, using electronic billboards to ask "Where's The Birth Certificate?"[46] The talk radio hosts Michael Savage, Brian Sussman, Lars Larson, Bob Grant, Jim Quinn, Rose Tennent, Barbara Simpson, and Mark Davis have all promoted the eligibility claims on their radio shows. Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs have also broached the issue several times on their shows.[73] Savage has asserted: "We're getting ready for the Communist takeover of America with a noncitizen at the helm."[71]
The anti-Obama campaigners have not, however, been unanimous in their approach. For example, WorldNetDaily has been critical of Philip Berg's forgery claims, saying that a "WND investigation into Obama's [short form] birth certificate utilizing forgery experts ... found the document to be authentic."[74] At the same time, WND has been urging Obama to release his original long-form certificate, and WND contends that "Hawaii at the time of Obama's birth allowed births that took place in foreign countries to be registered in Hawaii"[75] (WND does not address the fact that the certification of live birth lists Obama's birthplace as Honolulu, which would not be the case for a child of foreign birth registered in Hawaii); and a subsequent WND article seemed to backtrack on the earlier one, saying of the experts it had quoted earlier that "None of them could report conclusively that the electronic image was authentic or that it was a forgery."[76] This apparent reversal prompted MSNBC's Keith Olbermann to declare WND's Joseph Farah to be his "Worst Person in the World" for January 5, 2009.[77] Farah asserted in July 2009 that "I have never challenged the certification of live birth as a forgery."[citation needed]
According to Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center, "the birther movement has gained a large following on the radical right... it has been adopted by the most noxious elements out there." Some of those "noxious elements" include a number of avowed white-supremacist and neo-Nazi groups.[78] [79] James von Brunn, an avowed white supremacist charged as the gunman in the June 10, 2009 United States Holocaust Memorial Museum shooting, had previously posted messages to the Internet accusing Obama and the media of hiding documents about his life.[80] [81] Ben Smith of The Politico commented: "The penetration of the birther mythology into the violent fringe has to be a worry for the Secret Service, because at its heart, it's about denying Obama's legitimacy to hold the office of president."[80]

Dude ... Get it through your head FOX DIDN'T MAKE UP THE STORY.  Nor did any other cable news outlet.. :wtf: I don't know why I even waste my time on here .I feel like Im talking to a brick wall most of the time when I post here.

HELLO, MCFLY!! NOBODY IS SAYING FOX MADE IT UP! their "fair and balanced" reporting fanned the flames and kept the story in the news cycle while the other networks tried to downplay the story. you are not going to win this argument because there are too many people on here that remember that story and remember how it was portrayed in different areas of the media.

we know you despise obama, but the question i have for you point blank is are you a birther?

there is a difference between reporting a story and pushing an idea. i don't think fox op/ed came up with the idea of death panels but they helped push that as well saying they were real. they are supposed to be a news network, they are supposed to fact check but we all know fox doesn't bother to do this and go ahead and continue to push stories already proven false. that is not the same as the coverage other networks gave it.

i think people are trying to use semantics to get around fox op/ed pushes proven falsehoods. the story, like others, was made up and they helped push it as truth, just because they didn't have the initial idea doesn't mean they are any less guilty
