Experience with 10C - sweet or sour?

I don't want to start a fight, and I'm really hoping people can post here respectfully.
Because of inadequate servers which lead to frustration when attempting to purchase tickets, and because of poor communication from the 10C in regards to upcoming tour dates/releases, (if it's the band's communication with them that's poor, then 10C in my eyes still holds the responsibility to channel our frustrations in the band's direction), my overall experience with 10C has been sour, and I will withdraw at the end of 2010 if this doesn't change (before people inevitably say "then quit"). I'm interested to hear from other people on their opinions. Please keep this light, and end with whether your overall experience has been sweet, or sour :)

Overall, pretty sweet. However, like any organization, there is room for improvement.

Is yet another thread on the performance of 10c really necessary?

It's been all sweet for me. I've received a second chance to buy tickets to shows I wanted to go to, I've never been shut out of a 10c presale... it's all I wanted out of them and I get it nicely :D

  • My vote is for "sweet". I've never had a problem with them, and the several times I've had a question or problem, they've been prompt, helpful, and polite.

I think everyone who craps their pants about no info loses sight of the fact that holding things close to the chest is how this band rolls. I know we're hanging out here in the age of Twitter and Facebook and blogs updated constantly, so we just sit around drooling waiting for more 1s and 0s to stream into our eyeballs, but Ed still writes his songs on a typewriter for crissakes!

I have been guilty of expressing dismay at a lack of information. Sure, they could throw a bone... at least something to show they're paying attention sometimes, but historically, they're not that far from the norm.

All things considered, I reiterate: sweet, even when I was shut out of the (then) last show at the Spectrum.

  • Pretty sweet overall : Posters, Vinyls, 1st dibs on Tickets to shows, Downloads, Merch, community, etc

The only minor gripe I would have is for The Minister of Information, the way news and tour info is delivered and handled on this site leaves a lot of room for improvement. But overall, much much more positive and sweet than sour!

    sour.

    recent examples:
    Chicago night one rafters

San Diego-having to wait for fucking ever to pick up 10c tickets

    "banned for life" 8-)

Sweet- posters, tickets and other shit like that.

Overall- $15 or $20 I am going to continue to pay. Will also continue paying for my newborns.
  • 10C really do a lot for the fans, and at 20 bucks a year, we get a pretty good deal. However, my frustration, like many of yours, is the closed door policy the band seems to have with works in progress. This is THE website for the band, so we should be hearing news here first. I'm not talking about rumors or leaks because those are inevitable but when tours are being put together or relevant tidbits are available (everyone knew about the iTunes download for Haiti 2 days before they made mention of it), it should be here first. I really don't think it would be a huge deal to start a thread that said "hey guys, we're looking at a few northeast dates for may and june but nothing is confirmed yet", but I'm sure 10C has their reasons as to why this tight lipped policy works for them.

    2008- Boston I+II
    2009- Toronto, Philly III+IV

sweet for me, though I do understand and at times share in the frustration over the lack of news, or servers crashing.

but for the most part, I think the 10c handles things well and any time I have had a problem, they have been
    quick to fix it.

    so sweet it is.
    Peace, Love.

Everything this says for me too. I've had a gripe in the past and felt stupid for moaning but you should always post sober! Why complain about petty things, if there was something to tell us they surely wouldn't keep it back because it wouln't exactly make them look professional. I let my membership slip a long time ago and one of the reasons was because I never recieved any Deep mag or 7" but hey, I'm over it now and got my tickets for June!! :D

  • i would say sweet because even though at times there are frustrations, they pale in comparison to the perks and deals you get for just 20 bucks a year (IMO anyway)
9/1/2000 - E-Centre, Camden, 'Sometimes' started and I was hooked...

My only problem with the 10c is them locking threads. I mean what does that say about freedom of speech and if we can't vent to each other then I dnt know......fuck it, LOST returns tonight!!!! Woo hoo!!!!!

well...when they fucking lock the other ones then i guess it is!

my biggest beef is the bullshit way they announce tour dates.....but i guess that's just how they do things now......and not touring the US but then they do Europe...AGAIN!! that's fucking bullshit! how about touring the country that made you rich first...your fucking home!!*whistles star spangled banner*..........fuck Europe!!...they have a million of their own bands to go see!!!............ok.........i'm done.
  • Missed out on Philly II and III tickets. I was able to score them @ Comcasttix.com
I Won 10th Row lotto for night 1, Night 4 seats were pretty good. I still pay it every year, so....

They get appreciated in europe, they get a crowd and a half.....I understand from a few guys who hit the seattle shows in 2009 after the euro dates that it was an amazing contrast,..the us shows being totally devoid of atmosphere.

so where would you rather play on that basis?

plus Eddie may have mentioned before you need to go where the exchange rate returns good coin......oh shit, allow the whining to begin again

well...pdalowsy...i'm from Boston...not Seattle...and i will put our crowds against ANY CROWD ON THIS PLANET!!....America taught the world how to rock n roll...don't forget it!...& Seattle is full of coffee shop assholes who think they are too cool to yell and have a good time....no such problem in Boston dude....Ed has said we are one of the loudest crowds he plays for....many times!

i mean...do you really want to count how many times they have played in Boston compared to how many times they play in your country?....it's no contest!

    -Locking threads is complete BS
-Untimeliness of everything - holiday single and deep mag
-No benefit from ordering products from 10c instead of retail - Target and Backspacer Vault downloads
-Being the last place on the entire web to post data we end up knowing for days from other sites
-Announcing tour dates - that was such bs last year when the two night in Philly 10/28 and 10/30 two weeks later turned into two more nights - I would have only of had to miss work for 1 day instead of 3 if they just announced them all at once
-The 10c website compared to the rest of the wold is way lame

    sweet
-Talking to all you friendly folks
    -Getting presale tickets
    -Getting better seats at venues
-Making VINYL available again for each release including 45's
    -The holiday single
    -Deep magazine
-The way the 10c personel go above and beyond to answer any questions and help with any needs
-The way the 10c personel go above and beyond to answer any questions and help with any needs
    -it only cost $20

oh and America taught the world how to rock and roll? really?

not forgetting zeppelin, the stones, bowie, the who, the kinks, sabbath, motorhead the sex pistols or to a small degree the beatles eh? its fair to say although the amercians started the early notion of rock and roll, the brits shaped it pretty damn well

and one word....ELVIS!! he was the king baby! (i love Zeppelin!!! ) yeah...you guys have done well....but none of those bands blew up untill America embraced them!

  • Sweet. It amazes me what some people expect for $20. If you start to consider it a donation for an annual (not holiday) single, a couple Deep mags and everything else they provide as gratis when available, you'll spend a great deal less time complaining.

Question for any who didn't answer sweet - if you're so upset, why patronize the club? Take your $20 and go see a movie and (maybe) get some popcorn. This isn't a business model in the traditional sense - they do no recruitment, probably won't bat an eyelash at any lost revenue your complaints may bring, and certainly have not instituted any sort of suggestion box.
