really liked dave mathews performance but really love how hard every performer steps it up for the grammys

Pink was hot with all the water and acrobatics but I'm not sure if the was really singing. Either way it was a hot performance. Black Eye Peas was ok, but Fergie really needs to wear less clothing for anyone to put up with her rapping.
  • Yes, sadly the Backspacer promo at the very end was the highlight...

Pink looked fucking hot in that thread...

And the best performance of the night was censored out of control...

Pretty much sucked ass. All of it.
  • I'd rather watch paint dry then watch the Grammys.

?? uh... that is the fixer music video cut down to a 30 second clip, how can it be embarassing and you love it?

The part with the Target symbol playing on the screen and the "Buy the new pearl jam album at target" part, I dont think any less of PJ for their target deal but its a little embarrassing watching it with my fam/friends

Can someone explain Taylor Swift to me? She sucks. She's like the bad pretty girl in the middle school talent show.
  • I turned it on long enough to see the Black-Eyed Peas do... something. :? I'm not sure what it was, but it was not music. I could not bear to watch for any longer. I'll probably look up Pink's performance on YouTube, but otherwise I will stick with artists who write their own songs and play their own instruments well, call me old-fashioned.

why does ever performance need to have a guest with the group? Can we just have these people perform their own song in their entirity? Enough of a 2 minutes version with a guest that no one cares about. TV was so bad last night I watched some of this crap.

I agree that Gaga and Elton were very good.
We were but stones your light made us stars
  • I hope you guys are joking with that Lady Gaga gagarbage.

Anyhow - BEST actual musical performances (not theatrickal stage shows) were.....

    1. JEFF BECK doing "How High the Moon" Les Paul tribute, that was really well executed. I forget the singer's name but she was great on that.

    2. MARY J. BLIGE & ANDREA BOCELLI - "Bridge over Troubled Water", Haiti relief effort song. Mary can really sing. That had some power in it.

    3. MICHAEL JACKSON All Star JAM - Forget the title of this new song. But it was good. Angry, motivational, calling the powers that be to task. Reminded me of 70's era Stevie Wonder inner city revolution type stuff.

Those were the only ones I actually liked. The rest -- way too much to even begin to go into. Horrendous.

  • Oh yeah...also that keyboard player/singer from Zach Brown Band(? had never heard of before) could sing his ass off! That was in the Leon Russell duet.

isn't it ironic to sing a tribute to Michael Jackson and talking about not forgetting the children? just saying. and to bring his children up on stage is a disgrace - that kid was nervous as shit up there - stop parading them around like they are toys.

Can't say I'm a fan of hers or most of the people on the Grammys last night, but I will say I'll always have more respect for people who write their own songs as opposed to those who don't. We got my daughter Taylor Swift cds for x-mas and she wrote almost everything by herself which I thought was pretty cool.
  • some people on here don't like pink. too bad for them.

Because there's not enough talent, and they try to put quantity instead of quality to fill the void...

+1. Had the lyrics on my screen going (since I am half deaf) and to read the difference in lyrics between Riannon and whatever drivel was coming out of Taylor Swifts mouth was more sad than anything else. What has happened... I think we need another genre soon or we all will be stuck with the same songs being repeated by different artists forever.

Jeff Beck, DMB & Beyonce were the best, Taylor Swift w/ Stevie Nicks were horrendous, IMO.

She wasn't lipsyncing. They were emulating the original song which is one of the first (and best) uses of multitrack recording ever. Les is the father of multitrack recording. They had other tracks of her singing along with the live track. Listen to the original.
