It'll be Green Day because they media darlings and everyone loves them even though they play the same three chord song over and over and over and over again.

  • Green Day or Kings Of Leon as it's just about being popular. BEST song would be Fixer.

Even though its not really a rock song, I think "use somebody" will win because it seems to be KOL's year.

Agreed about Fixer being the best rock song though.

No way The Fixer will win it....and truthfully I wouldn't say it is the best song of the lot either imo.
To me....and as much as I dislike the general direction in which they went....Use Somebody is the best. Can't help it....love that song.
Workin on a dream is better than the fixer and the other two stink as far as I am concerned
ANd of course it is about popularity as was mentioned before, so KoL are the hot shit right now....another nod in their favor.
and more importantly...who gives a shit about a grammy

They will come 3rd if they're lucky (if there was a third)...unfortunately this is the Grammy's...the selection criteria is very different from that of an actual organization that takes all aspects of music into account and not just the amount of times a song was played on Ryan Seacrest's top 40.

Green day for sure...maybe KOL...and that makes me a very sad panda.

    Will Win - 21 Guns
    Should Win - The Fixer
  • As a longtime fan of both Green Day and U2, I have to say I will be surprised and disappointed if either of their songs wins. Those are not particularly good songs.

I have the latest Green Day album on my iPod, and frankly I am tired of it. What was new (for GD) and interesting on "American Idiot" now just sounds like a re-tread. I find myself playing "guess who this song sounds like" on each track.

I have not heard the other songs, so I don't know which sound will/should win. I like "The Fixer" and I think it sounds ten times better live than it does on the album. I think that for a PJ song, it is pretty middling. The Grammy results will not affect my listening habits one way or another, though. 8-)

they should considering it's the only song on the list that doesn't suck balls. All the other songs are not rock songs, they are either pop or complete shit or a mixture of the 2

Out of the 5 nominees, I'd say Pearl Jam has the least chance of winning. I don't see the Grammy voters putting them above any of the other 4.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Yeah, after he completely snubbed them, I don't see the Grammy people having them win.

they SHOULD win, but they won't. the fixer is the most rock song on there but they won't win it. fuck the grammy's anyways, after an entire year of music those are the five songs they pick as the best ROCK tracks? C'mon.

not that it matters, but 21 guns isn't even the best song on the album, "Know your Enemy" is. same thing applies for PJ, if "Unthought Known" was nominated, then i would care more. U2 new stuff is boring, Kings will probably win, there pretty good. <-- funny face

The one who is performing on stage just before or after the award is given out to @ the Grammy's will win. Oh wait, I think that only happens on the Billboard Music Awards. My bad.

It's kind of weird to see Pearl Jam even listed next to such huge names.
  • I doubt PJ will win. I'm guessing it'll be KOL.

Will PJ even show up at the Grammys??

Unthought Known was not elgible. The rest of Backspacer including the album, Just Breathe, and any future singles, will be elgible next year, is my understanding. Because the Fixer was the first single and released before the album, it was out early enough to qualify for this year.

And as for the main question, I woul dnot be surprised if Pearl Jam comes in last, though we never know the results. That U2 song should be last for sure, but I really believe KOL will win it, that song was just too damn big not to in my opinion. (Not that I think that means it should win, just come one, we know these grammy voters have no idea what they're doing.)

  • the grammy's are stupid. not because PJ won't win, but in general, the nominations committee don't have a clue.

Remember Jethro Tull beating out Metallica for best Metal whatever? That was RIDICULOUS. I only watch them for the odd performance by a band I like, and that's almost always the Foo Fighters.

  • and I'm guessing Bruce will win, just because it's the Grammy's. Not that Bruce isn't any good, but in these categories, the oddball usually wins.
