I don't know which one is most popular in my country but I love the showbox! The atmosphere is nice and its so easy to get right up to the stage, i was front row there once for an acoustic ben g show and it was amazing. Also they have weird baby dolls in the lights...

are you talking about Showbox at the Market? If so, I agree. I saw the band Gomez there last summer and loved that place. It's just the right size.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

It was a very cool place to see Pearl Jam -- 80-year old theater that holds 2600; excellent acoustics. My understanding is that the Vic Theater in Chicago is similar.

    It was the Spectrum.

the spectrum sucked for concerts, IMO, except for the PJ shows. I never liked it, sound was almost always pretty bad, venue itself was a kind nasty.

In philly i like the Electric Factory (most of the time) or the TLA.

despite being old and kinda dirty the sound was always incredible at the shows I went to

Saw a bunch of great bands at Georgia Theatre in Athens before it burned down. Not the best acoustics in the world but had a great history and hell of a lot of fun to see bands.

I like the smaller old theatres/ballrooms as venues :)

i too like the small halls.
The small live-house(club with live music?) are very cool though the big halls in Japan are not good...
i think you will enjoy it :P :!:

I can't believe people mentioned jones beach. What a horrible place to see a concert. Sound sucks, seating sucks, parking sucks. Venue is run by a buncha assholes. They ruined that venue when they added the upper bowl. The stage and band are ants if you sit in the upper bowl. I hope to god pj doesn't play jones beach.
