  • No Soundgarden. Some people on here were pretty sure of themselves.
  • Apparently the guy who books the bands said that they have quite a few surprises up their sleeves, and that they are releasing them slowly so they can get maximum news coverage to help with sales and stuff.

    yep. Could be.

    Seems to be some strong rumors for Soundgarden playing that Sonisphere. I can't afford to go either so i guess it makes no difference to me :D

    Only one out of the three headliners has been announced.

    Does announcing them seperately really increase sales?

    Are Soundgarden big enough to headline do you think?

    Yes. It's a reunion. Here's PROOF that only one headliner has been announced. Notice how AC/DC is bigger than everything? There aren't any other headline acts on this. They have also said more announcements are to come.

  • Soundgarden is gonna be a big reunion but not that big, not big enough to be a headliner, I mean maybe but I see them as a sub headliner maybe, the last time they played shows they were playing 4-8,000 seat venues
    {if (work != 0) {
    work = work + 1;
    sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
    else if (work >= 0) {
    reality.equals(false);
    work = work +1;
    }system("pause");
    return 0;}

    I know ACDC are on sunday so i hope all those bands all arn't for sunday... i mean megadeath must be on friday for sure as thats when metallica are playing. Would be pretty dumb and stupid to put STP not on AIC and SG or with SG at least. Wolfmother will be with ACDC i presume.
  • So we could be looking at Soundgarden, STP and AIC on the same day?! Cool!

    Yeah, I just hope they do day tickets, because I can't really afford a weekend ticket, plus I'm not the biggest metal fan anyway, so chances are the rest of the line-up won't really be my kind of thing.

    Your source is still saying FOR SURE Soundgarden will be there? Man if Soundgarden, STP, and AIC play the same day I may have to fly out there!

    Haha, I won't be attending, but I'm with you. My ears would be killing me come Sunday.

    fuck that is one awesome lineup.
    Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
    Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
    Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

    I'm in the same boat.

    I read day tickets aren't guaranteed and tend to only be released if the weekend tickets don't sell out. Guess the number of day tickets then also depends on what capacity is left at whatever point they decide to release them.

    Think last year they were released around the end of April.
    So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?
  • I was dead set on not going this year but it looks as though I may have to. So many great bands I want to see and if they add soundgarden and Van Halen there is no chance I won't be there.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

    Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.

    It's a difficult one too, becuase these individual bands might all play London shows around the same time, which would be far more convenient since I'm only about an hour away from London.

    That would be ideal for me too but presume it would be like Faith No More last year with any other dates not being announced until after Download is pretty much sold out so whether to risk not buying a Download day ticket in the hope of a possible London date :oops:
    So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?
  • I just read a blog post on NME, and they were saying that the competition between Download and Sonisphere is kind of diluting the line-ups for both festivals, so the chances of selling out might be less.
  • Brisk you seem sure that AC/DC are playing the Sunday but on their own website they state that they are playing the first night of Download i.e the Friday. They also have a gig on the Sunday in Germany.
    2006 - Astoria, Dublin, Leeds
    2007 - London
    2009 - London, Manchester, London
    2010 - Dublin, Belfast, London
    2011 - Alpine Valley x2
    2012 - Isle of Wight, Manchester x2
