Modest Mouse is one of my favorite bands. I love them.
Not sure I'm digging the singles from the new album so far.... but I've only listened to them once or twice each.... and I think was in a bad mood at the time. :P
I really wish they'd come and do a real show in Vancouver. I've never seen them live. :frowning:

i dug what i heard. I've seen them twice. Once opening for REM in '08 and at the Orion Music Festival in '12. I would like to see them as a headliner though. Here's another song from them.

I've been lucky enough to see them 3 times. I'm sad they released some new tour dates and Atlanta was not on it, but I caught them last year so that was cool.
I've not heard the new singles but i'm excited to hear the album. I'll wait until I can hear it all at one time

I preordered the next vinyl, really like lampshades. Saw em once in Philly but the ppl I was with had to leave early... I hate doing that.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

actually glad I checked here today, just saw they are touring and the tickets went on sale at 10. Got one to Raleigh, see you there.
    BTW Ticketmaster sucks!!

Same, it's really good. It's busy in a sort of Moon and Antarctica way but not over produced.

Dammit, the only full album posted on youtube has no sound. :(

But there are 5 songs up. Pretty good IMO. Really want to hear the whole thing, but so far I think it sounds good enough to buy.

Is it a one-time DL, or can you share it?

I also really like the 5 songs that I've heard, with the radio single being my least favorite of them. Need to hear the rest
7/19/13 - Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL
    10/11/13 - Pittsburgh, PA
    10/12/13 - Buffalo, NY
    10/16/2014 - Detroit, MI
    5/10/2016 - Toronto, ON
    3/24/2020 - Hamilton, ON
    9/7/2023 - Chicago, IL

  • Sorry, it is a one time code. If she doesn't want to use it for whatever reason I will send it on to you. I also ordered it on itunes(really wanted the songs as soon as possible) and the whole album is already available there.

Good call. The regular pressing doesn't have the 7" as far as I can tell by the one I just received (I don't really do singles, but I know they're a great bonus for people who do!).

I heard the new single on the radio last night, I turned to my wife and said, "When was the last time you heard a new Modest Mouse song?"

For a limited time they had the single with the vinyl purchase, now they have a different single with vinyl purchase, decided to get myself a back up copy.

How's the record sound? I gave this just a passing listen on iTunes, but enough to spark my interest in a physical copy.

I love the last couple from these guys, especially the last one. Really sad to see Johnny Marr not stick around. He raised the guitar texturing another level in a really cool way.

The Moon And Antarctica has its moments, but the earlier stiff is a little rough to me.

It's good but not great. You can read my thoughts here. It's pretty heavily produced, but I do prefer their older stuff. A few standouts like "The Ground Walks, "Coyotes", and "Tortoise and Tourist" but some of the new stuff they tried I wish they wouldn't have. "Pistol" is hard to swallow and should be a b-side and "Wicked Campain" is too cheesy for me, it sounds like something The Killers or top 40. Too much synth. I miss the lo-fi stuff but I'll always take new Modest Mouse, still super excited to see them live and hear the new tracks I do enjoy.

I think it's great (I agree that Wicked Campaign is very reminiscent of The Killers, but I liked it for that), but I definitely still think that their best album already happened years ago.
