STP, Weiland, etc etc

STP currently working on a 6th record. Interesting. Suppose to come out in the spring.
I thought weilands last solo record was absolute garbage. Though after reading his wife's (or x-wife i guees) book it seems he put it out to take shots at her.
By the way, her book...Fall to Pieces .....is a great book. Just read it. It was amazing behind the scenes biography on them, drugs, music, etc etc. Can not believe either are still alive. The VR video for fall to pieces is basically a true story capturing a period in their life.

eh, I used to be a big fan of STP but I think it's past their time. My only highlight from them is they opened up a show with shine on you crazy diamond. (blew my mind)

tacky, crappy, fake
Scooter Weiland is just a poser who got caught up in addictions he put upon himself for the sole purpose of obtaining street cred..."Ain't it Fun"
Well I just so happen to love their "tacky, crappy, fake" music. And for a poser Weiland's got a pretty damn good voice. I'm sure the lure of drugs was of course just so he could have street cred, and damn, look at all the joy it's brought him - prison, rehab, divorce - all well worth it, I'm sure

that's misguided to say the least. opinions aside, STP is a great rock band. Total class rock and roll
Wallingford, CT 4/20/2002 at the dodge theater (small venue). It was the last tour before they broke up for the first time. The set was about an hour and 20 minutes of their good stuff.
I looked everywhere but can't find the setlist.

I've seen them live and all of Weiland's posturing was sickening...but that's just my opinion, as you said....

I have always liked STP but am not a Scott Weiland fan. I agree that the DeLeo brothers are the driving force here. I never understood why they didn't just dump Weiland from the very beginning and just move on.
I can't decide if I should get the new album or not.
I saw that too. Hammerstein Ballroom, NY in 2001/2002?

They did, twice. It was called Talk Show and Army of Anyone. Didn't exactly work out too well (though I do agree that most of what make STP good is the DeLeo brothers, but when he's on Weiland is one hell of a frontman).
Oh, and I also saw them open with Shine On, it was in Austin around 2002 or so. It was quite badass.

Preface: Purple was one of those key albums for me as a child. Loved this band like I loved Pearl Jam and Nirvana for quite some time. Even liked Tiny Music quite a bit. Thought No. 4 was mediocre, not the worst thing. Heard Shangri La-Dee-Da once. Never put it on again. Thought it was unlistenable.
This new album is really boring and cliche to my ears. Go back, listen to Vasoline, and wonder if you could stomach this. I mean this is bland even if the sound wasn't terribly dated. At their height on this album, they sound like a cheap cover band of 70's Aerosmith...and I like 70's Aerosmith.
