Snow!!! Time for the city to grind to a halt because of two centimetres, lol. We are sorry excuses for Canadians in Vancouver when it snows.

    Nice!

My step-daughter recently got snow in Ketchikan Alaska, also unusual for the sames reasons as your area.

We had 6" (about 15 cm) snow last week and lost power for almost 3 days.  Damn cold nights!  And then last night we got almost 4" (about 10 cm) but still have power.  Most of it has melted off already but it was beautiful!

So what Vancouver get 4".  They are soft out in Vancouver.  I had to walk on a sheet of ice and drive in an ice storm to get to a meeting...

Usually I would agree with you, however this time VI and the lower mainland got about 15-25 cm.  The difference is, is that in the ROC they actually have the infrastructure to deal with the snow and ice.  You know, snow plows, gritters, de-icer for planes, etc.  After the last few years though, municipalities could probably successfully argue for tax increases to purchase the needed equipment.

I was mostly being sarcastic.  But you do raise some very good points.  I imagine there is limited snowplow capability as well.  In my neck of the woods it was like an ice sheet just to get to my jeep, almost went down a couple times.  I'd rather have the snow.

I hear you.  I’ve lived in Calgary, Fredericton, Edmonton and Ottawa.  I’m well-versed in whiteouts, nor’ easters, and unfucking-believable cold!

So  we got a few centimetres/inches of snow over the last two days.  it’s made for some fantastic icicles hanging down in front of my kitchen window though.

Hope all of our Newfoundland board members are doing well and still have heat and power as the blizzard starts slowly tapering off. Be safe.
