What a fucking song!!! I was listening to this song on the Benaroya Hall Cd really loud the other day (for the 100th time) and that's what I was thinking! What a beautiful, amasing and SAD song, but just so FUCKING GOOD! Only PJ could make such a touching song about dementia! Who agree's?!

    benaroya version im not that found out as to compare to a 2000 version because of matt's kit and general snare sound.

    It really is beautiful...
    Could be about dementia, life wasted, another existence, maybe suicide, I think its open to all sorts of interpretations, maybe that's wherein the beauty lies.

    I always interpreted it as something similar, but rather him regretting the waste of his life, it was a reflection of a man (or person) that was wondering how he had gotten so far off course from where he had wanted to be in his life.

    I feel that way myself, sometimes. :?

    I always thought I heard coins hitting the floor in the background. Might be chains though. I haven't listed to the studio cut in a few years. Time to break out Binaural!! :D

    that is what i always thought it sounded like.

    this is my most favorite PJ song of all.....a fucking brilliant masterpiece....hauntingly beautiful and depressingly sad all at once...just amazing....oh how i long to hear it live...in Boston...this year!!!!!! :mrgreen::mrgreen:

    Anybody who thought Sleight of Hand was about dementia should consider themselves lucky... because it means they haven't ever spent too much time at a job that was sucking the life force out of them! Once you have, every word in that song will relate to that...
