hahahah, it didn't even come to my mind. I don't trash Sox fans on this board, good people around here. The trolls on the the Yankees blogs are another story....

the whole is so and so a first ballot hof'er is such a load of crap

you are either a HOF'er or you are not.

perhaps players should get 3 chances in. once at 5 years, one at 10 years and a final try at 15. after that, forget about it.
81 is now off the air

Dawson is not a HOFer by any means. He only had one good season and the rest he just plugged away hitting 20 or more hrs for 20 years. Albert belle has the same numbers as dawsons does. Belle did it in 10 years. Dawson is a good player not great. The baseball hall of fame process has always been a joke and this further proves it.

    for sure about alomar..

    Baines has 3000 hits,no?

    McGwire should get in

not many players on that list deserve to get in
.doesn't blyleven always rant and rave every year...that'll keep him out

Baines had 2,866 hits and 384 home runs. As for McGwire, I think as we get further away from the steroids era, his vote total could gradually increase.

Randy Johnson just retired, is he an Hall Of Famer? Certainly not a first ballot HOFer.

    Peace

Fuck yes he is a HOF'er and a first ballot. No fucking question about it.

300 wins. 5 Cy Youngs. One of the top 3 picthers in the last 25 years with Pedro and Maddux

Edit: Just looked at a few more stats:

3.29 career ERA almost 5,000 Strike outs. 10.6 k's per 9 innings. 4 straight Cy Youngs.
    And lets not forget steroids.....

My only problem with Dawson is his horrific OBP.

Interesting article about possible future HOF inductees: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/ ... ystal-ball

Looks like if Barry Larkin and Co. want to get in, next year's basically their only chance.

Also, I'm really hoping Bernie Williams makes it in one day!

Anybody hear that Larussa may add McGwire to the playoff roster to use as a pinch hitter, which would freeze his HoF eligibility for 5 years.

Adding McGwire as a ph could work, but the real motive just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even though I think he's gettin the shaft over the HoF votes.

I agree. He was an above average player but not one of the all time greats. Cooperstown is more watered down than a free casino cocktail.

An interesting article on the "logic" some of the BBWAA writers use when casting their votes.

Spoiler: Jay Mariotti (who is an absolute tool) was ranked 2nd worst overall.
