I had never chatted online before - so didn't really think anything of it when there was the link for the webcam. It was weirder to be "talking" to someone and not be able to see their face. The online thing was new to me - this is the only forum I had ever been on. I felt really violated afterwards...just really stupid. I thought I was being helpful - I mean this is what I do everyday. Personally, I don't think the issue is whether men OR women do it...(as I'm sure BOTH do)..the real issue, is WHY anyone, (male or female) would send UNSOLICITED pictures? I mean...someone said earlier about webcam chats and the only reason they could think of would be for a sexual type thing.....but if it's consentual then the issue is null and void, the issue is when people feel the need to do it totally off their own back...without first having permission. Just my take on it...Like I already said, seems kinda bizarre to do it unsolicited, and perhaps the people that do that DO need some kind of help? Cause that doesn't strike me as socially normal behaviour..

I agree - huge difference between solicited and unsolicited pictures, etc. In my situation the conversation was not sexual in nature at all. It was all about antidepressant meds and coping techniques, etc until he made the comment about not being able to masturbate. I have to think it's gotta be a control issue - more about wanting a reaction or to manipulate someone than a consensual thing. I'm sure there are online forums where people can connect if they want that sort of thing - why spring it on someone that way unless you get off on the reaction?

It's not much different then people that used to go naked under coats and flash other people. why do girls show their boobs to people to get beads at mardi gras ? I'm not saying it's right in any way. but i would guess for some that its just the thrill of sending it that gets them off. Some people, couples , like to have sex outside in semi public places. the thrill of maybe getting caught turns them on. I actually went out with a girl a few times that had trouble getting off without the chance of getting caught. she wanted me to do her in the laundry room of her apartment building. I noticed she would always make sure the lights were on in the bedroom and the window shades were open so if someone in the building across the way looked over they would be able to see everything. some people just get off on being seen.

I don't know if you can classify anything done between anyone, whether they be a couple or not, in the same category as what's being discused here though. I mean, what we are talking about here, is the people that consider sending pictures of their various naked body parts to others, totally unrequested and uncalled for. Yes it's the same as chicks (or guys) walking around naked under a coat, and flashing people...that's strange as well....strange also is the desire for women to flash themselves after copious (or not so copious) amounts of alcohol,....personally that's not something I have ever understood. But to classify couples wanting ohave sex in a semi public place in the same category is not something I would agree with. Couples that do that are most likely looking to up the excitement level, the fear of getting caught etc, adds to the adrenalin....but its CONSENTUAL...that's the difference I think.

Fair enough. I can acknowledge that women send "sexy" pictures of themselves to men and even post them online. (I put sexy in quotes because, chances are, men find these pictures of women sexy, though women don't usually find random penises sexy.)
But my comment about women not doing this was more about women not calling up randm hotlines to masturbate over the phone. This happened frequently enough at the hotline where I worked that it was part of our training. Never once did I ever hear of a woman doing this. Nor have a heard of women masturbating to 911 operators, exposing themselves at school playgrounds, etc. But perhaps this kind of behaviour isn't really comparable to the unsolicited pictures from people you know or to Craigslist ads. An argument could be made either way, I guess.

just so you know, there are plenty of woman out there that post naked pics on craigslist too.
and really, everyone here are really fooling thier self if they don't believe that women do this sort of thing too. I have been sent nude pics of women more than once.
some people just get off on this sort of thing, and it's really unfair to pretend its just the men that are doing this.

Personally, I don't think the issue is whether men OR women do it...(as I'm sure BOTH do)..the real issue, is WHY anyone, (male or female) would send UNSOLICITED pictures? I mean...someone said earlier about webcam chats and the only reason they could think of would be for a sexual type thing.....but if it's consentual then the issue is null and void, the issue is when people feel the need to do it totally off their own back...without first having permission. Just my take on it...Like I already said, seems kinda bizarre to do it unsolicited, and perhaps the people that do that DO need some kind of help? Cause that doesn't strike me as socially normal behaviour..

It's not much different then people that used to go naked under coats and flash other people. why do girls show their boobs to people to get beads at mardi gras ? I'm not saying it's right in any way. but i would guess for some that its just the thrill of sending it that gets them off. Some people, couples , like to have sex outside in semi public places. the thrill of maybe getting caught turns them on. I actually went out with a girl a few times that had trouble getting off without the chance of getting caught. she wanted me to do her in the laundry room of her apartment building. I noticed she would always make sure the lights were on in the bedroom and the window shades were open so if someone in the building across the way looked over they would be able to see everything. some people just get off on being seen.
I agree, I would also not call this socially normal behaviour.

I totally get where you are coming from - it would freak me out as well....Personally I'm baffled....i suppose it could be a control thing, or it could be that you are just inadvertently talking to a freak, and you did the right thing by just closing it down instantly...

I don't know if you can classify anything done between anyone, whether they be a couple or not, in the same category as what's being discused here though. I mean, what we are talking about here, is the people that consider sending pictures of their various naked body parts to others, totally unrequested and uncalled for. Yes it's the same as chicks (or guys) walking around naked under a coat, and flashing people...that's strange as well....strange also is the desire for women to flash themselves after copious (or not so copious) amounts of alcohol,....personally that's not something I have ever understood. But to classify couples wanting ohave sex in a semi public place in the same category is not something I would agree with. Couples that do that are most likely looking to up the excitement level, the fear of getting caught etc, adds to the adrenalin....but its CONSENTUAL...that's the difference I think.
It's comments like these that make me wish I knew how to do those fancy clapping smilies.

Fair enough. I can acknowledge that women send "sexy" pictures of themselves to men and even post them online. (I put sexy in quotes because, chances are, men find these pictures of women sexy, though women don't usually find random penises sexy.)
But my comment about women not doing this was more about women not calling up randm hotlines to masturbate over the phone. This happened frequently enough at the hotline where I worked that it was part of our training. Never once did I ever hear of a woman doing this. Nor have a heard of women masturbating to 911 operators, exposing themselves at school playgrounds, etc. But perhaps this kind of behaviour isn't really comparable to the unsolicited pictures from people you know or to Craigslist ads. An argument could be made either way, I guess.
