nope HTI only played 4 times out of 13 shows in 08...granted that's a lot, but i wouldn't call that heavy

EDIT: you know what, WMA was only played 5 times...i coulda sworn it was more...ok WMA is cool to put on the list...i say heavy rotation is a song being played more than half the shows on a tour, so All Night is still out heavy rotation

EDIT #2: (promise last one) never mind, WMA is in the 80's wouldn't call that rare

They count the tags, hearing the whole thing is pretty rare.

As for HTI I went to 5 shows and heard it twice.

There is a reason they were never played before that, coz they suck.

    there i said, shoot me.

  • Not sure what is really considered the rarest, but the biggest ones that I can think of...
Sweet Lew, Pilate, No Way, Bugs, Don't Gimme no Lip, Alone, WMA, Satan's Bed, Education, Bee Girl, Brother

that's my issue too...the OP's stopped at 34 plays so i just counted ones under that...but i found plenty of high 30's 40's 50's 60's etc...really you don't see the staples till the 3 digits...

i think hold on is the only rarity i've seen. not bad for 2 shows. unless you count 7wc, cuz i saw parting ways live there... and ed doing split enz/crowded house/general finn tunes.

Crown Of Thorns: played 14 times - 12 in the U.S. - I've been lucky enough to see it twice.

Parachutes: only played 10 times in the U.S. - I've seen it once.

Big Wave: played 25 times total, but only 13 in the U.S., 8 of which were California, and 3 in Hawaii. I've seen it once. (I wonder if there's a conscious decision or just coincidence to play this song near the ocean most of the time? If you look at the dates/places it was played, other than the Gorge, Hartford and a few European shows, the majority of the performances were in California, Hawaii, and Australia!)

Tremor Christ: It's been played 57 times total, but only 12 times in the last 11 years! I've only seen it once in 1995 in Osaka, Japan.

Pilate: Played 12 times, 10 in the U.S. I've seen it once.

Rival: Played 19 times, 12 in the U.S. I've seen it once (San Diego 2000, along with Pilate, Parting Ways, and Don't be Shy cover - GREAT SHOW, right after seeing 10th Anniversary show in Vegas!)

39 Shows, Including all 4 Spectrum shows, 2 at the Gorge, Wachovia 2005, 2003 - State College, Mansfield 3, Buffalo. I saw the amazing preset in Toronto this year. I've seen them play with Neil Young in Toledo. I've seen every Trilogy (I, U, Mamasan, Man). I've heard every song off of every regular album, except Oceans. On Last dogs, I have heard every song played except Undone, Fatal, Brother, Education, BRY. I have not heard Just a girl or last soldier. I have heard "I've got a feeling". I was there for the debut of parachutes and the return of leash. I was there for the Wash umbrella. I have not heard interstellar overdrive or soldier of love. I was at the live debut of Sad. Just off the top of my head. Unfortunetly and Ironically, the only song I have ever wanted to hear since show #1 was Oceans.

Notable songs I have heard multiple times
    Free Jazz (Last exit intro)
    WMA (Full song) x3
    Wash x5
    Satan's Bed x5

    Mankind x4
I'm Open x3 (not including EV solo)
    Bee Girl x2
    Alone x3
Crown of Thorns x3 (and missed it at a nearby show)
    U x2
    Rival x2
    Breath x4

probably bee girl if i had to pick one

personally I'd have rather heard something else, not fond of the rare tag too much, these things tend to be rare for a reason
  • ilockyerilockyer Posts: 2,270
    Education - played 6 times
    Brother - played 7 times
All Night - played 12 times
Low Light - played 14 times (seen twice)
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits

exactly...bee girl, bugs, sweet lew are just a waste of time at a show IMO. Just because they are rare does not mean they are good songs
