I always thought I was the only young (im 19) person on these boards lol. ;)
None of my friends truly appreciate music as much as I feel that I do with Pearl Jam.
I always wanted to find people my age that we can just sit down and talk about Pearl Jam, but I didn't think alot of people under 21 listened to them. :D

About 30 min. from the city driving, very much easily accessible by Metro North. So, just saying, that pretty much makes MSG a perfect venue for some shows in 2010 :D

  • Ha! Sam I too was sick of being called dude on here so I changed my pic. Thou I don’t know many guys that would pick blondie as their screen name. If they call me dude now, we’ve got some serious problems.

Who ever said kids always seem to recognize the music of the 70’s but not the 90’s has a very good point. I wonder why that is?

Well no one mocks me... most of the responses I get are, "Oh", "Huh?", or "I think I've heard of them. I think 2 of my friends know a few PJ songs, most of which are 'Alive' or 'Black' or the like. I actually have a friend I am in the process of converting-- she heard Ledbetter and loved it (I gave her a big hug!)!!

YAY you! Converting friends is great fun. I love the fact that there are young fans getting into PJ, I think it's awesome. But older fans can convert too ;) I'm 36 and converted a really good friend of mine 3 years ago when we were living together... I was quite sneaky about it, playing the Live at the Garden DVD and hand selecting songs I thought would keep her there and not running to her room. She didn't leave and after a while, I turned and said: "They're not what you thought they were, are they?" and she admitted they weren't and that she thought Ed was just delightful. She said she didn't like Jeremy when it first came out and hadn't bothered listening to them. She's a big fan now... came to Lolla with me (her first show) and then to Molson this year and I've told her she's coming down in May... I don't have to push her, though, she loves them and spent days sending me links to YouTube vids after the Molson show :D

  • Well if you lived near me, I’d blame it on not getting enough radio time. kids listen to the radio. They sure ain’t playing new pj. just their old stuff. I’m 30 and here’s what I hear when I tell somebody I like pj. What? Are they still together? They only had one album.
I don’t understand it. pj is one of the best known live acts and they’re in rolling stone from time to time, but people think they weren’t a band anymore.
Maybe it has a little to do with Ed shunning the media all those years ago. He didn’t like them, so they backed away and years later this is what happens, people don’t think they exist.
It does bug me when I get that reaction, but when I think about I’m glad they weren’t ever a media puppet.

Hopefully no one will mess up your gender now :)

That's a good question brought up... maybe it just takes time... maybe in 20 years music knowledge of the '90s will be like it is today with the '70s.. who knows? Also, many parents of teens today were born in the 60s/70s, so they're just passing on musical knowledge to their children, maybe? I mean, my dad was the one who introduced me to classic rock at age 2!

I'm 19 and almost everyone I know has mad respect for Pearl Jam. I also got a bunch of my friends into them, especially after bringing them to some shows. And these are kids who like mainstream shit, so it's not like Pearl Jam doesn't appeal to people who listen to mainstream shit, you just have to know which songs to introduce them to in the beginning and then they'll slowly grow an appreciation for their other songs.

I've never been mocked or told "theyre ok" by anyone, although I've run into some people who didn't know who they were and would ask me to play a few songs, it worked out well almost every time.
