France went through. Ireland totally deserved to go through. Im an Englishman but feel gutted for Ireland. Henry cheated and its a shame that it came to that to decide the game.
just watched the clip. that was pretty blatant. shame for ireland
"Ah, life is a gate, a way, a path to Paradise anyway, why not live for fun and joy and love or some sort of girl by a fireside, why not go to your desire and LAUGH..."
Lloris was in fine form, rejecting everything Keane and Duff and Doyle had to throw at him. A real shame such a fine performance is overshadowed by a disgusting piece of cheating from someone who we all thought was a fine specimen of a sportsman.
If it was Anelka, Gallas, Diarra, fine. They're a bunch of tools anyway.
This was Henry. He's not supposed to be one of them.
Judas.
115 bucks for half a haircut by a novice? I want my money back!
Im pretty pissed! We outplayed France and we were robbed.
Ref should be shot too.
Ref was positioned pretty much where he should be, in a crappy position to clearly see it, and the linesman's view was blocked by Gallas.
The additional official being trialled in the Europa league matches would've been in a perfect position. And the 4th official, given the ability to do so on video, could've overturned it in 3 seconds.
FIFA. Fuck that shit.

two guys were offside too ... let's be brutally honest here - soccer/football on the whole is a very corrupt sport ... it's like figure skating ...
they revamped the rules arbitrarily to give countries like France and Portugal the best chance to get in ... and now, they blatantly missed 3 calls ...
this thing is totally on the refs and FIFA ... henry admitted he handed the ball but the game in it of itself is about what you can get away with ... that's the way the game has been played for years ... it's not his fault the ref didn't call it ...
Not only was it a blatant handball that the linesman should have seen, but it was offside aswell. Absolutely despicable decision. The FAI are calling for a rematch. I doubt we'll get it, but it has happened before. I'm absolutely gutted. Ireland were the far better team last night and deserved to go through.
“I will be honest, it was a hand ball. But I’m not the ref,” Henry said. “I played it. The ref allowed it. That’s a question you should ask him.”
Asked if he regretted the handball, he replied: “No, no, we’re qualified.”
what a tool! i cheated but since the refs didn't see it, it didn't happen...what an asshole
did jordan push off on byron russell? ... at least he didn't try to say "god" did it ... i'm not saying he should be proud of it but the reality is (especially in team sports) that you try and get away with things and he did ...
Ireland outplayed France throughout, to go home on a play like that is disgraceful. FIFA should do the right thing, disallow goal, red card Henry and start the game from where the illegal goal was scored.

i would say that there is a slight difference between those two plays

Exactly, calls are missed all the time. The refs can't see every play. If they want to blame anyone, blame FIFA for not having instant replay.
Sadly Ireland will not get a replay, Henry and his cheating has not only cost Ireland a place in the world cup but it will cost the Irish economy alot of money in lost revenue. I feel that Henry has openly admitted he cheated and is not sorry for it so if FIFA took a stand and kicked him out of the world cup it would serve as a lesson to the rest of the footballing world that cheating would not be tolerated. There is too much cheating across the sport now and it will destroy any shred of pride fans feel. Every week in the Premiership someone is tackled and goes down as if shot at close range. Ref books or worse, sends off player and then the cheat jumps to his feet and all is well. Cheats should be banned from all sports. None of this serve a ban shite. You cheat, Your out. Dwane Chambers took drugs and IOC kicked him out for life from the Olympics. The right thing to do as he was a role model for our kids. Anyway Im babbling.
YOU CHEAT IN SPORT AND YOU SHOULD BE HUNG TILL YOUR DEAD
We were never going to get a replay, and there are plenty of people to blame for the whole thing.
Having watched all 12 games of ours in the campaign i knew we wouldnt score many of our chances. anyone who watches football will know that if you repeatedly have chances (and dont score them) against a team as good as France they will punish you. We should've been a few goals up, we had the chances, we didnt take them.
Having said that, Henry should get a ban, and hopefully this whole media furore will lead to some Video technology being tried.
The ref played a very good game i though, except for not spotting that, and he shouldve booked Lass Diarra many times but didnt.
I'm going to Barcelona next week, i'd planned on taking it easy. Now ive got to find Henry's house, and kill him in cold blood. No remorse.

don't get me wrong - although i agree with you that calls are missed ... this is blatant corruption here ... FIFA like most world goerning bodies are corrupt as hell ... they changed the rules to give France the best chance to get in and when it looked like it could be problematic ... they made sure the refs did their part ...
the ref lied on the field telling an irish player it was 100% not a hand ball ... and we're not even talking about the offsides either ...
at this stage - the only way there is a replay if France agrees to one out of honour

The Ref didn't lie if at that point in time he didn't know if it was a handball or not.
The part that didn't make sense to me was the fact that the game was in the 102nd minute.
Was there 12 min of extra time or something?

it's a lie if you say that 100% it was NOT a handball ... he could have said he didn't see it which would be reasonable but his response was that it was definitely not ... and the dude touched it twice so - i'm gonna go with lying here ...
i believe they were playing extra time because the aggregate was 1-1 ... they would have gone into a shootout in another 15 or so mins if no one scored ...

OK on the extra time thing. So it was a golden goal situation then. The first leg was 1-1 then right?
Looking at various comments and replays of the goal and the players aproach to the ref, I think that the ref did indeed know it was a handball. He motioned very clearly that it was his chest yet the 4th official knew it was a handball, I knew it was a handball, all the players knew it was a handball. My blind grandfather knew it was a hand ball. Something does need to come from this. I stopped going to Liverpool games because of how much the game has changed. Win at all costs is ruining the game I loved so much. I had no desire to see either team through, all I wanted was to watch a good game with the outcome being fair. I feel gutted for Ireland as they deserved more. France may have gone on to win the game but if it had been fair then at least the fans would have been able to accept it. I always believed that Henry was one of the good guys in the sport, his actions and comments have brought the result into question and for that he should be ashamed. And sadly he is not!
