If the Blazers win the coin toss in the 84 draft and get Olajuwon then Jordan doesn't win 6 titles and Magic Johnson would still be the greatest player to have played at this point.

If Magic doesn't get HIV, then maybe he wins a few more titles.
If Jordan stays out of retirement, then maybe it's 8 in a row.
If Len Bias doesn't get all coked up, then maybe Boston dominates LA and Magic doesn't get the titles that he got.

#6 Was worn by Russell AND Dr. J. I mean LeBron pays not attention to pre-1983 NBA. Those are two of the greatest players ever.
Oh, and NO Jordan shouldn't have 23 retired across the NBA. That's just incredibly stupid. He was a Great Great player, but he did not save the sport or break any barriers.
Any athlete's comments should be taken with a grain of salt. Their ideas don't shape life. Just shut the fuck up and entertain us.
The reporters need to stop making a big deal over comments that any male makes during random sports conversation with their buddies. That's not newsworthy. That's just a dude shooting the shit but instead of being in a bar, it's on camera.
Oh, and Michael Jordan is the best basketball player who has ever lived. To argue against that is just ignorant. Dr. J? Bill Russell? What about the fucking Harlem Globetrotters?
Whatever. Michael Jordan's Balls beat Larry Bird in a game of HORSE. That's greatness.
Anybody that says somebody from the 60's or 70's is better than Jordan is delusional.
For God so loved the world that he gaveth it Michael Jordan.

1/12/1879, 4/8/1156, 2/6/1977, who gives a shit, ...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...........Basketball is obviously not your thing because you don't know what the hell you are talking about!! Dr.J is NOT even close to MJ...Bill was an awesome defensive player...but MJ could light you up for 50 then shut down your best player on the other side....he was the ONLY PLAYER to EVER win the scoring title AND defensive player of the year, in the same year!!!!!!!! Bill will tell you himself MJ is #1...not just #1 basketball player but #1 athlete of all time...remember the ESPN top 100 count down?voted on by athletes & coaches! yeah..MJ #1...nuff said!
never broke barriers?!?!?!?! i almost pissed myself when i read that one! are you fucking kidding me?!?! he broke almost ALL the barriers!!!!!! he did more for the game than any one player ever has or ever will!!!!
Bird and Magic helped to bring the NBA from coke heads playing at 10pm at night to a semi-respectable business...MJ took that shit global!!!! and made the game blow up bigger than any other American sport ever has or ever will!!!!!!!!!!! his face is known around the world more than the president of the united states!
the NBA should retire the #23.........LeBron knows it...i know it...anyone with 1/2 a clue knows it.
Oh, hi everybody. I received a message on Facebook from Michael Jordan that requested me to stop in on this thread and leave a message from him. Of course, I am always happy to oblige MJ. I have cut and pasted to maintain accuracy...

We have a differing opinion then. Also, your reading comprehension needs work. I referenced Dr. J and Russell in regards to LeBron wearing number 6. You can argue that someone from pre-1983 would be better or worse than Jordan. There is no way to know.
btw. I loved MJ and the Bulls. Absolutely was a frontrunner when it came to that team. So I watched quite a bit of MJ. He broke no barriers that are deserving of retiring his number across the league. He didn't integrate, he didn't die doing charity work, and he didn't save the League from obscurity. He made a popular game more popular.
It was very nice, I totally understand that. But I’m a guy that says there is no one great player in the NBA. The NBA lasts a lot longer than one particular person so I understand what his point is. Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Bill Russell all those guys should have their jerseys retired too. I understand his gesture, but I’m in the same group as those guys so I wouldn’t want to see my jersey retired unless you retire those guys."

As of today, you're correct.
