Adele and the Hendrix set were both $5 at Barnes & Noble. Yes, you read that right - $5! Absolutely insane deal for the 3 LP + blu-ray Hendrix set and cheap enough for Adele to take a chance on it (wife is a bigger fan than I am, but I like her enough even though it’s not her best work).

    What is this?

This is the first album by a (sort of) "super group" consisting of Steve Wynn- guitar and vocals (The Dream Syndicate, etc.), Linda Pitmon- drums and vocals (Zuzu's Petals, etc), Peter Buck- guitar, mandolin (R.E.M), and Scott McCaughey- guitar, vocals (The Fresh Young Fellows, etc.)
All of the songs on their (now) four albums are about baseball- the game, the players, the history, the stats, you name it, as long as it's baseball!  Lots of fun stuff and this first LP is a great place to start.  Lots of fine stuff here!

Also, in recent years, R.E.M.'s Mike Mills has joined this outfit on bass and vocals.  Their most recent LP, Grand Salami Time, was recorded by engineer/producer extraordinaire and musician, Mitch Easter (formerly from his band, Let's Active).

Here's a great cut from their first performance on Letterman:

This is RIGHT up my alley!  They mention Oscar Gambles afro.  That was a thing of legend!  These guys most likely collected cards so they studied the backs and fronts of them.

    I am very intrigued.

I don't know if the CD has the lyrics (probably), but the vinyl version does and I love that because I have what's called "poor auditory discrimination" making it difficult sometimes to separate out lyrics from the mix (although these guys enunciate well which really helps).  And the lyrics all the way through that first album are just terrific!   And its great- beautiful song!)  I think you would enjoy them! And yeah, these fellows are big-time baseball fans!

One of the songs Steve Wynn wrote is called "Fernando", in honor of Fernando Valenzuela, and its all in Spanish.  I'll have to get my wife to translate it for me.

So do I. It's hard to believe MCA has been gone 12 years.

    LOL, she's got us guessing.

Iridescent blue vinyl LPs look so cool!   I've got at least a few.  In fact, was just listening to this one:
    Primary
    Secondary 5 of 8
