No. The Red Sox seem to be placing a higher value on highly rated defensive players as the signings of Mike Cameron and Adrian Beltre indicate.

Baseball Prospectus PECOTA has the Yanks finishing 3rd in the AL East and missing the playoffs with awful years from Pettitte and Mo. They have the Rays winning the AL East.

They also have the A's beating the Mariners for the AL West so take it with a grain of salt.

The BP PECOTA nerds haved adjusted their projections and have the Yanks and Red Sox tied at 93-69 with the Rays in 3rd. Thats more like it.

How many of the 2009 regular season Yankees can you name in 6 minutes? 42 out of 45 for me.

  • Damon supposed to decide soon. I hear his best offer is 2 yrs -- 14 mill from tigers. which he will most likely take. yet yanks offered the same thing months ago you he turns it down? If true, he must feel like such an ass

Wow, no shit, this just came about. I saw earlier the most they were offering was 4.5 for 1 year. Why the fuck would the Tigers make that kind of offer with absolutely no market for him? If Boras gets him this, a job well done.

    ouch.

amazing what an injury can do to an athlete. you go from the #1 guy on the new york yankees, to the washington nationals in the matter of a couple of seasons.

i feel bad for the guy.

both the dodgers and mets passed him up after they saw him throw off a mound recently. i'd rather go back to playing ball in asia than play for the washington nationals.

Yeah man, gotta feel for the guy. I was always a big fan of him. Hopefully he can rebound. Sad end to his Yankees career, was very cool to see him out there celebrating with the team when they won, just wish he could have contributed.

Sad news, Gene Monahan is very sick and going to miss spring training and possibly the early part of the season. Get well soon. He is almost like Bob Sheppard, hopefully he can get back soon.

I think your White Sox might have one of the best rotations in baseball. Would you like to discuss the merits of that as opposed to your usual skankees post?
