2 things. Just saw the highlights.

Incredibly weak celebration for a walk off this time of year.

Given the catching situation around the league and the lack of catchers available. How do we feel about a poor batting average backstop that hits 20 home runs? Given everyone else in this lineup, if the pitchers love throwing to him, I'm not opposed to him for another year or two until Romine or Sanchez are ready. He's not going to hit .200 and he's not going to hit .290, but he'll hit 20 home runs and handles the staff. I don' know.

Was hoping Boston would play spoiler to the O's like the O's did to them last year.

Let's keep it rolling. It's obvious Baltimore isn't dropping out of this thing.
  • These umps are on the Yankee payroll. That was not a balk, and all of CC's outside pitches last night were not strikes. :fp:

Michael Kay better hope this game ends very soon, otherwise, he'll miss the beginning.

This game has been ridiculously entertaining.

Something I just looked up on my own ... Melky Mesa just made his Yankees debut as a pinch runner and was sacrificed to 2nd by Jeter.

Mesa was all of 5 years old when Jeter made his professional debut in the minors.

    Baltimore's the real deal.

I don't know dude. They have a negative run differential. They can't run. Defense is suspect at best. And they have won an obscene number of extra inning games. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

They are a team that relies on home runs though.

They are here now though, so I guess that is all that counts. Would love for them to win the wild card and for the yanks to get them in the playoffs

That was exactly my point. Everyone is talking shit about the Yankees relying on the home run but is on Baltimores balls. It's cute actually

Soooooo. Gardner is taking live BP today and says he is 100%. I wonder if they have been holding him out to see if he can hit.

Gardner, Granderson, Ichiro in the outfield with Swisher at first, depending on Tex. :o

Don't get your hopes up but that would be a bit of a boost.

I just don't know what the lineup would look like? I guess move Ichiro up to the 2 spot especially how hot he is right now.

    1) Jeter
    2) Ichiro
    3) Cano
    4) A-Rod
    5) Granderson
    6) Ibanez/Dh
    7) Swisher
    8) Martin
    9) Gardener

Well, doesn't thrill me, but if we get good pitching...

Wonder what happens when Tex comes back if Gardner is activated.

Maybe DH Swisher and sit Ibanez, although i would like to DH Tex until i know he's better.

    Yeah.

Swisher has filled in very nicely at 1B for Tex but defensively he's obviously not Tex.

Yeah, I don't know. I'd go with something like this. Maybe Swisher 2nd (?) and put a shit load of speed at the bottom. I'd be nervous keeping Ichiro 2nd unless he can keep this up.

I'd also imaigne Tex will DH a bit especially early to make sure they don't lose him again.
