    why the hell is girardi throwing burnett in an elimination game?

    take your chances with him tonight in a game 3. if they win, awesome. if not, you have CC and Nova throwing in 4 and 5.

    You can't just give away a playoff game. The Yanks have beaten Verlander plenty of times if I remember correctly.

    agreed. but face it... 80% chance burnett does not show up. whether that is game 3 or game 4.

    i would rather him not show up in a non-elimination game and then rely on our two guns to get us out of the hole.

    No pitcher is a lock to win a game, look at what happened to Cliff Lee yesterday. You never want to "give" up a game, too much can happen and I'll take my chances with CC any day against anyone. Verlander has started 12 games against the Yankees in his career and the Tigers have only won half so he's no lock to beat the Yankees. In fact since 2008 the Yankees are 6-2 when Verlander starts.
