I'm sure they'll come up with something. They won 103 games and a World Series title with essentially a three-man rotation and 95 games with CC Sabathia as an ace, AJ Burnett pitching with his head up his ass, a young Phil Hughes and an injured Andy Pettitte. People seem to be neglecting that fact.

Umm not really. AJ was on his game when they won. That's the thing - you don't know what you get with him one season to the next, and Pettite was not injured. He beasted it up through the playoffs.

I think your applying problems with both those guys from this past season with two seasons ago.

i think your applying rings to pitchers that haven't gotten any, example Roy , Cliff and Roy.
I'll give credit to Cole, He's actaully done something when it's mattered.

I don't know what that has anything to do with....anything. I'm just correcting what you said is all.

Yes in some ways because I think Burnett while still inconsistent is closer to the pitcher who was 13-9 than the one who was 10-15. Also because I think Phil Hughes is a capable major league pitcher, especially at his age. And also because people when they panic over moves not happening, they fail to realize that moves and pitching often tend to be derived from unexpected places. And also because I've never been one to panic and am well aware of how difficult it actually is to win this day and age regardless of resources, roster and payroll and finally if it was so easy, this game wouldn't be fun to discuss on this forum and anywhere else.

I said the same thing on the last page. As much as I want Greinke, I think they go into the season with the rotation they have and Pettitte, if they have to make a move mid-season they will.

I'm not trying to be a wise ass...serious question. what would you guys think of the yanks trading for blanton?? he could probably be had for a low-mid level prospect at this point.

I wouldn't object to it. I'm not sure I'd want to do it until January or February after seeing how other pitching (free agency/trade) develops.

Rather have them spend the money on Kerry Wood and see how the season goes.

we were discussing a blanton trade in the phils thread. amaro should take his time moving blanton, so I don't think anything happens until right around the start of spring training anyway.

the baseball offseason is great...you just don't get this type of action in the other sports leagues

Blanton fits the modern day mold of a Yankees pitcher: 6 innings, 4 or 5 runs, gets a W because the offense scored 10. :lol:8-) Probably still better than Burnett.
